i recently had an experience with designs by rose that did not leave me with a warm and fuzzy feeling. i live in brooklyn. and as you fellow brooklynites know, getting to li is not easy. i've found that my best way to contact vendors is via email or telephone. so far many of them have been more than accomodating. i had contacted designs by rose because they made the floral arrangements for my friend's wedding and i had been impressed with how fresh and colorful the flowers had been for her wedding. and my friend also said she got a great deal for her centerpieces. so naturally i contacted them via email to discuss my ideas and their prices. at first, they were nice and professional. but soon i started getting some unprofessional and (dare i say) snappy responses. i decided to brush them off as i knew from personal experience that they would deliver great quality work at a great price. but when i tried to make an appointment to come in and meet with them. i was told that my date was already on hold by another bride so she would not be able to do my wedding. i was crushed and a little surprised because we had been going back and forth via email regarding my centerpieces and the date was always in the subject of the email. and i thought the least they could have done was inform me that someone else was interested in my date. so i told them that if i had been informed of this before hand because then i would have done my best to at least come in to meet with her. she returned my email by saying and I quote,
'I'm sorry but we never met nor did we have a date no less an interest or commitment. Not meeting and not talking to u how could I know some else would book.'
i was floored! i didn't expect her to put the date on hold for me but at the very least, she could have said something like there's another bride interested in your date; especially since my wedding date falls on a WEDNESDAY Not to mention the multiple emails and discussions regarding centerpieces....does that not account for interest in booking your services? i just thought everyone should be aware of designs by rose. they may give you quality work but you may not get quality service.

discussing centerpieces does show interest but not many (or maybe any) vendors will just hold the date bc you're showing interest. you need to meet with them or have them send a contract even via mail to book with them or discuss holding the date (if they were even willing) or unfortunately the date is fair game for any bride who comes along and books faster. so in that way, they're not in the wrong at all. sorry youre disappointed. im sure youll find another great florist. i was very happy with the work of jenn from verbena designs.

It stinks what happened but I dont think vendors can just put dates on hold because of a phone call. You should have gone to meet with her since you already knew they did great work. I live in Queens and I traveled into LI, sometimes took me 3 hours back and forth with traffic but I knew I had to meet with these people to take me seriously. I do agree they could have been a little nicer in their email .
Theres only so much you can discuss through email. What if they told this bride, who Im sure went IN to see them, no because of a few emails with you and had never heard from you again??

I admit her reply to you was a bit harsh but we have to understand that these people are in business. First, she may not have known a bride was even interested in her services for that date while she was e-mailing back and forth with you. Someone could have actually come in to speak with her and booked her at that moment. Secondly, if she was discussing details with another possible bride, I don't see where she is obligated to tell you that - what if she did and you decided to go elsewhere based on that information and the other bride also decided to go elsewhere? She would have had no one for that date.

I just checked the 09 brides list, no one has 7/8/09. maybe the bride that wrote this post wants to add herself?

Re: Design by Rose Review....very disappointed
According to her post, she didn't expect them to hold the date just because they exchanged emails. It sounds like she was taken aback by the rudeness of the florist's reply and the fact that the florist implied that she never showed interest. I think it was unprofessional the way they went about it. So I totally see where she is coming from. Honey, there are other florists out there who would be more than happy to take your business and give you a fabulous wedding to boot. So keep doing your thang! If you need any recommendations, FM me! Best of Luck!
BTW, I've heard of weddings on a Tuesday so don't be too surprised by a Wednesday wedding, ladies.

I can understand your disappointment but if they're treating you like this now, you don't want to trust your wedding to them....there are so many other florists that would be happy to have your business and won't be rude!!! GL

How can you tell that this is a fake bride or a fake post?
When a poster only has a few posts and one of them or the first one is a vent about a particular vendor; and weird details (some posters here think a Wednesday wedding is odd and her wedding isn't listed in the '09 Brides' ) or no details (her profile lists nothing at all about her wedding, and there are no pics). This one is hard to tell...but I can see why some of us think it's a fake. P.S. If it's not a fake post then please forgive us here...we have been scammed before and don't appreciate it!!!!!
