i recently had an experience with designs by rose that did not leave me with a warm and fuzzy feeling. i live in brooklyn. and as you fellow brooklynites know, getting to li is not easy. i've found that my best way to contact vendors is via email or telephone. so far many of them have been more than accomodating. i had contacted designs by rose because they made the floral arrangements for my friend's wedding and i had been impressed with how fresh and colorful the flowers had been for her wedding. and my friend also said she got a great deal for her centerpieces. so naturally i contacted them via email to discuss my ideas and their prices. at first, they were nice and professional. but soon i started getting some unprofessional and (dare i say) snappy responses. i decided to brush them off as i knew from personal experience that they would deliver great quality work at a great price. but when i tried to make an appointment to come in and meet with them. i was told that my date was already on hold by another bride so she would not be able to do my wedding. i was crushed and a little surprised because we had been going back and forth via email regarding my centerpieces and the date was always in the subject of the email. and i thought the least they could have done was inform me that someone else was interested in my date. so i told them that if i had been informed of this before hand because then i would have done my best to at least come in to meet with her. she returned my email by saying and I quote,
'I'm sorry but we never met nor did we have a date no less an interest or commitment. Not meeting and not talking to u how could I know some else would book.'
i was floored! i didn't expect her to put the date on hold for me but at the very least, she could have said something like there's another bride interested in your date; especially since my wedding date falls on a WEDNESDAY Not to mention the multiple emails and discussions regarding centerpieces....does that not account for interest in booking your services? i just thought everyone should be aware of designs by rose. they may give you quality work but you may not get quality service.

Re: Design by Rose Review....very disappointed
I have used this site to look for reviews on vendors i'm interested in, but never posted or created an account. i'm meeting with florists this week, saw this post, and felt the need to reply! not everyone has the time or the need to post or comment, and may only post a couple of times over the course of their engagement! Doesnt anyone believe in giving the benefit of the doubt??
btw....i'm not on the 09 list, so i guess that means i'm just pretending to get married and search this site just for fun.

To be honest, I didn't even think this was rude. Definitely disappointing since she wanted to go with this vendor but its pretty cut and dry. Sounds like the vendor never spoke via phone and never met with her, so why would they save the date for her? Again, sounds like interest was expressed, but thats not enough to save/book a date. We're also going on one side of the story and just what shes given us. Maybe the bride never even gave her the event date. I know she said she did, but why would the vendor claim she didn't then?

Just because there is a bride booked on your day, doesn't mean they should just say 'OK, buh bye'. I'm not familiar with this florist, but they must be capable of accomodating two brides... I just don't see what the big deal is! Either way... there are plenty of florists out there for you to meet with! If you don't get that warm and fuzzy.. just move on!! Good Luck!!!
Honestly, girls. This really doesn't seem like a fake post to me.. and if it is OH WELL!! I've been quilty of trying to sniff out fake brides before, but it's just silly and really gets us nowhere. We all started out with one post at a time... let's cut her some slack!

seriously, i want to stop with the fake posts and the fake brides. this is really annoying me. Can LIW do anything about this?
I've seen some really obvious fake posts. They go something like this... 'XXX is soooo horrible - they ruined my wedding... I should have gone with XXX, they are soooooo FAB!' lol
I'm just not sure why this is sooo blatantly obvious . Because she's getting married on a Wed???

I'm sure pepole are choosing that Wed. b/c of the date 7-8-09.
I just checked the 09 brides list, no one has 7/8/09. maybe the bride that wrote this post wants to add herself?
I'm an 09 Bride and I didn't add myself to the brides list even though I have seen it quite a few times.

You post to the thread and the person who created it, edits it and adds your name to the list.

First off, I think everyone needs to take a chill pill and RELAX. It sounds to me like she's a real bride, and if not, who cares? Does it bother you that much? My good friend was planning on doing 7-8-09 although it a Wednesday.
Regardless, that does sound like awful customer service.

Uhhh.... how can your wedding fall on a Wednesday?
You are kidding me right? YOUR WEDDING FALLS ON A MONDAY and you are giving me grief about my Wednesday Wedding? You have got to be kidding me
Perhaps I need to reiterate...I did not expect DR to save the date for me...all I was saying was that being that I am on a Wednesday (which yes is an unusual day and even questionable according to Ms. Esquirebride) but we were corresponding for weeks about my date (yes that was the first thing I asked her if she was free for my date...in fact my wedding date was always on the subject line so it is BS to say that she didn't remember or know my date. Perhaps she forgot...everyone knows that the first question you ask ANY vendor is if they are free for your date!!) Anyway I digress....we have going back and forth so much about my arrangements and she was giving great pointers so I don't see how that concludes her saying I showed no interest b/c I wasn't ready to drive up there and see her in person. All I'm saying is that it would have been nice to have known that someone else was considering my date and she was rude!

Re: Design by Rose Review....very disappointed
I didn't choose Designs by Rose, but I was very impressed with their professionalism. I can verify that they are excellent in communicating via e-mail as the 'fake' - or maybe not! - bride described. I can't help but disagree with the bride, though. You cannot expect them to hold your date if you do not place a deposit. I find it interesting that they only do one wedding at a time.
I've chosen Burton's, but so so often I have second guessed this decision. They seem so cold and uncaring and get many mixed reviews. I just thought that they had more choices for the money. Still, Designs by Rose really inspired that sense that the work they will do would be excellent. I still think highly of them...

Re: Design by Rose Review....very disappointed
actually wednesday and thursday weddings are becoming popular. RH's have said that they are now booking weddings for wednesday and thursday. DH's best friend is getting married next year on a wednesday, it is thanksgiving eve so a bit different but doesnt mean its fake just by the date. Plus the whole 7-8-9 reason is why someone would want to get married on this date. The same way 7/7/7, 8/8/8, 6/7/8 were popular. And if they can get a cool date with half the price for doing it on a weekday im sure they will.
As far as the post. Sorry you are disappointed. Unfortunately unless you show a real interest in booking and imply you plan to book, they are going to go with a guarantee if it presents itself. Such as another bride coming in and offering to give cash that day, they'll just do it. Still S*CKS for you and can see why youre upset if you corresponded so much, it obviously showed you had an interest.
SOME vendors do hold a date though. I had called my videographer and only spoken to him on the phone at first. He did tell me that he'll put my date in his calendar as a maybe, and if anyone calls interested in the date he will call me first to let me know and i will get first priority. The problem was that i wasnt able to make it to commack, and our schedules were conflicting. He did call me after a while to tell me someone was interested and to let him know what i wanted to do. I went and met with him in person and i was able to book my date. He told me that he had told the other couple that someone already called interested in the same date, he'll call me to find out if i'll book and if not then they can book but if i do book then hes sorry he can't do it. I do have to say that i really did appreciate him doing this. I do go in person to meet with him and showed me his work, gave me a contract and all that and booked him that day

According to her post, she didn't expect them to hold the date just because they exchanged emails. It sounds like she was taken aback by the rudeness of the florist's reply and the fact that the florist implied that she never showed interest. I think it was unprofessional the way they went about it. So I totally see where she is coming from. Honey, there are other florists out there who would be more than happy to take your business and give you a fabulous wedding to boot. So keep doing your thang! If you need any recommendations, FM me! Best of Luck!
BTW, I've heard of weddings on a Tuesday so don't be too surprised by a Wednesday wedding, ladies.
Thanks querida...

How many times did you correspond thru email? And did she ever ask you when you would go see her??

Re: Design by Rose Review....very disappointed
Regardless the bride who did book the day might have walked in and booked immediately, no correspondence or anything. If thats the case......any vendor will take booking a definite over someone who 'might' be interested. its the nature of the beast and thats the way businesses go.
Im not saying the response you got was correct but it wasnt wrong either. That is the way it goes~early bird gets the worm so to speak. Unfortunately being that it took time for you to get there she booked with someone else who was guaranteed. It happens.
I would be disappointed to but its a little much saying she should have informed you~b/c its business and you had nothing more then emails she really doesnt owe you or anyone else who shows an interest and speaks to her via email or even telephone for that matter a 'forewarning' that someone might book. I had some vendors say if someone else took an interest they would let me know before booking with them...but this was NOT all of them.
As far as accomodating more then 1 bride~there are florists who will only do 1 wedding per day so as not to over book themselves.

Thats exactly how I took it too. We all know these things happen with vendors, but the level of unprofessionalism in the emails is what bothered her.

Just because someone has less posts and is giving a negative review does not mean they are a fake bride. You girls with higher posts should not discriminate over brides with lesser posts

I dont know why everyone is confused about a Wednesday wedding. Are Friday-Sun the only acceptable days??
Exactly, if someone wants to have their wedding on a Wednesday so let it be, whats wrong with a wed wedding? I know alot of people that had their wedding on a mon, wed, thurs
