ok so heres the story....my sister and i are getting married not even 5 months apart....i know, my poor parents.....haha... they have asked us just to pay for our photographer/videographer...no biggie....DF freaked out a little bit when i told him this and he's scared about $$. He is starting a new job (cop in NJ--they do a little better then out here) and I am just finishing college (def not a high roller yet lol).... which photographers should i look at with midline prices??? I am scared that the cheaper i go, the less quality i will get (duh??)....who can you all reccommend that is on the cheaper side and still does a great job?!?! My sister is paying $5200 for photos and video and i think thats a lot....she went with Artisan....helllllpppp!!

Re: desperate for photographer/videographer help!
People are willing to spend a lot on photos and they are super important. One possibility is to try to work with the photographer you like best and really negotiate. Another might be to seek out college students who are photography majors... I booked Patken for photo and video, but I am also most likely hiring one of my bm's cousins for 500 to take candids. She's in her third year of studying photography and has done other weddings, and jumped at the opportunity! FM for more info.

Re: desperate for photographer/videographer help!
Hi. We're using Silverfox. They have several photographers and I think you would be able to find one whose style you liked. I think their rates are reasonable. For 2006 the cost for photographer was $1500 for up to 10 hrs and you got 4x6 proofs with this and a hi res DVD of 'negatives'. What was also nice is you could postpone your decision on an album until later on but they lock in the prices at the time you sign so ours are 2006 ones when we select albums after Sept this yr, or next. It gives you more flexibility if you are on a budget. So maybe check them out. We aren't doing video so I can't tell you anything there. Also alot of brides recommend Duet and 12th night. I did not see them so I cannot give you info there either but I hear they too are reasonable and do good work. Sherwood Triart and Angelica Glass are supposed to be excellent but also pricey. HTH

Re: desperate for photographer/videographer help!
were using proline and a lot of girls on here said they were expensive, but I told him what I wanted and brought them pricing form another vendor and they did a lot better and we really lovvvvve them.. duet was the also priced low though, and you can buy the lowest package now, and if you have $$ after the wedding u can always upgrade, usually the 2 weeks after they offer everything 1/2 off... Re: desperate for photographer/videographer help!
i am using Kolen Weddings. He's been in the wedding photo biz for appx 5 yrs and is very good to work with. Havent had my wedding but the pics on his site are amazing and eve2008 has taken her e-pics w/ him.
I'm using Duet but the package I booked is $5000 for a photo/video package that is pretty much all inclusive.

Re: desperate for photographer/videographer help!
We didnt do video, but opur photogrpahy package was 1800 for 8 hours, all of our pics on CD, unlimited photography and 500 edited, 4x6 prints in place of the usual proof book. Our photographer is a freelancer who works for this compaby, A CANDID IMAGE (who we booekd with) and his portfolio is awesome. the customer service at ACI is betetr than any studio we looked at (you deal with the regional manager in your area and they handle everything in the middle and deal with corporate) and we've had NO hassles with them. Def look into or Bella Photography for great quality while cutting corners.

Re: desperate for photographer/videographer help!
we were able to do Aaron Almendral as our photographer and Rambling Rose Video for just under 3k total. Each came to about 1500 or so.
Don't be afraid check craigslist and come back on here and look for names. It can deifnitely be done!

Re: desperate for photographer/videographer help!
I picked Lavendar Bridal Studios (located in massapequa) The owner is WONDERFUL and his work is BEAUTIFUL! The reason we picked them besides that is because he was willing to work with our budget and still left me feeling satisfied, I am not missing out on anything I want and he is so willing to compromise and help.
