desperate to find a reception hall!!!

Original post by dbcrosby

we have been looking for over a month now and are completely frustrated. we are looking for a reception hall for both the ceremony and reception. we would like an outside ceremony and cocktail hour, but if it rains i would love a buetiful ceremony area inside. the only place i fell in love with is carlyle on the green. Future inlaws cant afford it, so now we are back to square one. we have looked at lands end, larkfield manor, sail harbor, watermill, north ritz, woodbury country club, millridge, swam club ... you girls get the idea. we are going to look at the lawrence country club and villa lambardi this weekend. does anyone know of any places that meet the above requirements between the prices of $80-125?? i need all the help i can get. im getting very frustrated. Please help with locations on nassau county or not too far out east. thanks girls!

Why don't you wait to book the place, is that date the most important thing to you??? 2005 is a long time away we booked the watermill less than 4 months before the wedding date, doing it this way to save a lot of $$$$$$$$$$$ Good Luck

we were going throught the same thing until we looked at villa lombardis, they range from about 80-about 130 a head, have an outdoor ceremony and an indoor ceremony. not to mention a huge cocktail hour room that looks like a green house.
i think you may be happy with it.

How about the Roslyn Claremont Hotel.

I would say to definitely try:
Jericho Terrace
Floral Terrace
Fox Hollow

we were quoted about $115 @ each per person

As a former Hamlet bride, they get my vote!! They are in Commack & its an easy ride from anywhere in Nassau.

They are definitely within your price range and the food and service are EXCELLENT! They will not play games with you on their prices. The grounds are gorgeous as well. I would have loved an outdoor cocktail hour, but on 12/21, there wasn't much chance of this happening!

Re: desperate to find a reception hall!!!

I am getting married at the Carlyle this Friday. We are paying $100pp++. We are paying $400 for the ceremony and yes, we are paying extra for the valet. We also booked about six months prior.. so they figure that no one will book a january wedding within 6 months.. that's why I got a good rate.
i used to be in this biz. You are booking WAY to ahead to get a good rate..I would wait- but not too much because you are close to the holiday. I loved the Carlyle, so that's why I picked a time to get married when I could afford it.. maybe you can do the same? I'm sure if you picked a date that wasn't around the holiday it would be more affordable.

In terms of the big tip- I saw the 'executive gratuity' on the bill an I think they are smoking crack.. there is no way we are giving them $1400!

wow! im very excited over all the suggestions. i know that i am looking really early, but i really want that date- which i know will sell fast, plus I would like to know that it is settled. We are going to look at the lawrence country club and villia lambardi's on saturday. sunday we have our second visit with lands end- which is my second chioce. i just want the process over with and know that i am getting married in the perfect location. i will still love to hear any more suggestions you guys have!

Re: desperate to find a reception hall!!!

i didnt like the bridgeview only because i wanted greenery and i thought the room was too spread out.

I can totally understand that.

Re: desperate to find a reception hall!!!

off peak you can get villa lombardi's on a sunday in that price range. John anthony's was even cheaper than Villa's and the Watermill, is still in that range.

Hi dbcrosby,

You mentioned that you want a July 3rd wedding on Sunday....that day does not fall on a sunday because my wedding date is July 6 of this year and that's a Sunday.

As for reception Halls...
I booked Floral Terrace in Floral Park where you can have your ceremony there, but it's inside only. which is fine whether it rains or shines and i've heard the food is good there but everyone has their own opinion and might think different.

Dont go to Jericho i just heard that recently one of their ceilings caved in.

Dont go to Russo's on the Bay in Howard Beach, queens because they have a room where there is an elevator in the center of the dance floor where the bride and groom make their entrance and there was this bride and groom who got stuck for 3 hours....
flowerfields and chateu briand is good also

Did you check out majestic gardens?? I fell in love with that hall. I love the fountains and ponds. I plan on getting married on top of the fountain. I hope it doesn't rain, otherwise my dream wedding is screwed. The inside is nice though. Jericho Terrace would be my second choice, although they don't do outdoor ceremonies, the indoor ceremony is absolutely gorgeous.
