desperate to find a reception hall!!!

Original post by dbcrosby

we have been looking for over a month now and are completely frustrated. we are looking for a reception hall for both the ceremony and reception. we would like an outside ceremony and cocktail hour, but if it rains i would love a buetiful ceremony area inside. the only place i fell in love with is carlyle on the green. Future inlaws cant afford it, so now we are back to square one. we have looked at lands end, larkfield manor, sail harbor, watermill, north ritz, woodbury country club, millridge, swam club ... you girls get the idea. we are going to look at the lawrence country club and villa lambardi this weekend. does anyone know of any places that meet the above requirements between the prices of $80-125?? i need all the help i can get. im getting very frustrated. Please help with locations on nassau county or not too far out east. thanks girls!

we are booking for july 3, 2005. i guess the price went up. the also gave us 2 different prices - pat gave us the price of 165 and cynthia (dont get me started on her) gave us 205 as a price. did they also make you pay extra for valet parking? what are u paying for your ceremony if you are having it there?

I'm getting married at the Vanderbilt Mansion and they don't have a site fee. I wasn't going to look there because I thought it would be over my price range, but surprisingly the prices weren't too bad. You should defnitley give them a call.

Did you try the George Washington Manor? I don't know how many people you are planning to have but they have an adorable little chapel on site-

i'm trying to think of other places.....

As a former Carlyle bride, I find it interesting that Pat and Cynthia gave you different prices. I wasn't totally thrilled with Cynthia but she was who I worked with. Are those prices for the evening? If you go with an afternoon, it is less. I originally wanted the evening but went with an afternoon. The room is beautiful during the day! They do charge a ceremony fee, valet parking is extra, and they add 20% service plus they make you give big tips the day of the wedding.

What time of day are you looking at? We had a Sunday afternoon wedding at the Carlyle and paid a lot less than what you were quoted. We were in love with the place too, and gave up the idea of a night time wedding just to have it there.

Have you tried to negotiate with them? How many people are you expecting. Sometimes that helps.

Let us know what you decide.

we went to the carlyle for a second visit but we couldnt meet with pat( who we loved!). so we met with cynthia and she was so rude to us and made the prices even higher than what pat gave us. so we made another appiontment with pat in february. im crossing my fingers. i can only imagine can married there!

I'm getting married at the Crest Hollow Country Club. Our ceremony and cocktail hour will be outside. You should check it out, it's in Woodbury. www.cresthollow.com There is a little video presentation they give you.

What about Bridgeview Yacht Club or Lido beach Gold Club

We dealt with Pat during the whole process and he was wonderful. Try him again, and tell him what Cynthia told you. You can even call him if you want to. That sounds very strange that they would quote you such different prices. Are you sure they were for the same day and time. Prices do change there, depending on time of year, time of day and day of week. Make sure they were talking about the same exact time and day.

It's not Nassau county but my wedding is at the Beach Club Estate in Lake Ronkonkoma. The grounds are beautiful. Depends on the # of people. Think they can do up to 125.

You should also try Crest Hollow. We are paying somewhere in your ballpark although I can't remember the exact number. They have a beautiful outdoor area for pictures, ceremony and cocktail hour.

The Lawrence Country Club is beautiful. A friend of mine was married there 6 years ago. I went there to look but decided on Jericho Terrace for other reasons. Albie was good to work with at LCC. John Anthony's was great too. As was The Rivieria of Massapequa. I was at weddings at both recently. Good luck!
