diamond fell out

Original post by gonzo23456

Okay, so one of my smaller diamonds fell out of my ring. It is the third time this has happened. My fiance is getting so pissed. Has this happened to anyone?

sounds like a bad setting to me. If it happened to me more than once, I would have gotten another setting.

is your e-ring platinum?

ETA: I just saw that it is Platinum. If I were you, I would ask the jeweler for a different setting. it's going to keep happening. not what you wanted to hear, but I am sorry. that is a bad setting!

OMG! There has to be something more than can be done to ensure that these diamonds are going to stay in place
Definitely speak to the seller!

I wear mine all the time...I have to get it inspected every six months for warranty....only Once one of the side stones were loose and had to be fixed...

3 days after getting engaged my diamond was loose. Iw as so annoyed and I totally thought to myself, UGH THIS IS A SIGN! I ran over the 47th st and had it fixed during lunch. It hasn't wiggled since. I was so upset!

Do you have 4 or 6 prongs?

Let me add my story here....
My band has about 35 parve diamonds in it. One of them fell out the day after the wedding, so the jeweler replaced the stone. Then after the honeymoon, a second stone fell out. They sent the ring back to the manufacturer who checked out the entire ring, when i got it back, another diamond fell out a week later!

PS, my jeweler is having them custom make the ring to my size. He told me that when they size a ring, it can cause the settings to become a little loose, so i am still waiting for my new band which should be in around a week from now.

wow, I havent had any problems with mine, but there are no little diamonds on it. I would definitely have an issue with the jeweler and would tell them that you want a new setting

Re: diamond fell out

ive had a few problems with my ring and I have only had it for 3 months.

1- FH was told the ring was a 7, and it was a 6.5 so it didnt fit. I had to have it sized.

2- they sized it to a 7.5 insisting the original was a 7... they were wrong.

3- they gave it back from resizing it to a 7, and the stone was lose, i had it fixed.

4- within the week loose AGAIN!!

5- i get it back fixed, it wasnt centered, it was all off center.

6- i get it back for like the third time, and the 4 prongs it was in were all chipped, with what looked like the tool they used ruined the setting.

and i was told it was ME!. i was seeing things. The ring was this way originally.
i demanded FH's money back, and the girl turned into my best friend 'wanting to make me happy'.
i had my BRAND NEW ring. Same style, sized and ready to go in a 1/2 hour.

She actually told me 'i had bad blood with the ring'

Ive had the new one for about a month. NOT ONE problem.

I guess it wasnt me afterall...

Re: diamond fell out

Being that this is the third time that this has happened in less than a two year period I would be pretty livid to say the least. I have to get my ring inspected every six months as part of the warranty, I would ask your jeweler if they offer a similar option.

...that was exact reaction! I wear my ring 24/7 and it is still as perfect as the first day he gave it to me! I would def bring it back to the jeweler...do You have it insured just in case??

Re: diamond fell out

i had problems with my ring and the little stones in the beginning. my ring originally was 18k yellow gold and was way to soft. i had a copy made of the setting and had it done in white 14k for the setting and 18k yellow for the ring. havent had any problems since. we couldnt go back to the original jeweler (shonoa in the city) bc iwas dumb and had it resized at the flea market. once someone else alters the ring, the original jeweler isnt responsible anymore. but working with ideal jewelers in the atias flea market worked out well and i love my e-ring and the wedding band they made to match it! good luck to you and your ring!
