I was told that 'all photographers leave after the cake, nothing happens after that' Really?!??! Things do happen and thats ridiculous!!!!!
Especially when the contract says 'complete reception'

My photog didn't mention anything like that. We have them booked til 1230 (the very end) and that's on our contract.

I have heard of that- but I dont think its super common. All the photographers DH and I considered didn't do that. I wouldn't book one that did.

Our photographers stayed until the end. The photographer that was hired for a longer period of time (one was 5 hours, one was 10) would have stayed for extra pictures of me and DH if we weren't heading out for our honeymoon.

they should stay until you are ready for them to leave, unless their is a time frame stated in the contract

Thomas Paul stood around until the absolute LAST MINUTE of the reception. Some guests even left before he did. The photographer should stay until the wedding is over!

A few told us that. We are paying a little extra to ensure that ours stays until the very end.

no I think this is different- if your contract said entire reception- than the photographer should have stayed till the end- not right

Thats what we argued!! So the owner comes back and says 'well you have it on video', yea ahole but that doesnt go into an album!!

maybe bring it to the attorney general for state of new york & bbb- seems like they violated your contract

The photographer for a friend's wedding did this. well, after the cake we had a chocolate fountain which everyone loved (and not ONE photo!) and dancing for another hour -- the entire bridal party, etc. dancing together (and not ONE photo of this either!). So there is not one photo of the best man (FH) even dancing, or the bride and groom dancing like mad with their friends. If I was the bride I would have been furious.

when we met with photographers a few came right out and said that they do leave right after the cake cutting. We didn't book them

Ours is by the hour, so try have to be there until the end, otherwise they'd be violating their contract. lol

my friend got married 2 weeks before us and i think her photog stayed the whole night (i'm not sure) but her video left at 10pm and the reception ended at 11:30.

Yeah this happened to us, I was sooo pisssed, especially because the last hour was the cigar roller. So i have 2 quick pictures that I made them take before they left, and they came out soo crappy! .. I was made that we already tipped them, because it was my understanding they would stay till the end of my reception... ohh and she still decided to take 2 of my cigars
