Did any of you start planning before the ring? (and did you tell anyone?)

Did any of you start planning before you were officially engaged?
Did you have everything planned out in your head since you were 5? Did you and FH look at vendors etc before you were engaged?
If so, did you tell family/friends you were planning, or did you wait until it was official?
Just curious :)

I started planning before. We knew we were going to get engaged and that it was going to be a short engagement, so I started as soon as I could.

I started planning before the actual engagement. We had talked about it, and it was unofficial, but i started looking into prices and such before I finally got him to accept my proposal lol

We didn't start planning until after we were engaged. I wanted to start looking at RHs the week after, but my DH wanted to wait a few months. The only thing I researched before hand were engagement rings because his mother slipped and told me that he was planning on asking me.
But hey, if you can get some of the stuff out of the way that's great. You'll always hear vendors say the sooner you can get things done the better!!!
GOOD LUCK AND CONGRATULATIONS

No I didn't do any planning before, but I thought about things... like I knew we were going to get married eventually and I lurked on the knot to get ideas for the future, but no actual planning.

We not only PLANNED the weddin without a ring. We also got married without an engagement ring!
Not a single person didn't take us seriously. Some people just don't have engagement rings.. and some wait to get them. I don't think it is a big deal. You do whatever you like!

We knew early on that we'd get married, but since we were so young there was no way we'd be able to start planning and have anyone support it or take it seriously. We had even put off getting engaged to avoid an uproar in the family (our parents would have flipped if we were engaged at 19). After we turned 20, he couldn't wait anymore and proposed and then we started planning. People still didn't take it seriously because of our age but age has nothing to do with it, it's all about maturity. Now that the wedding is a year away and people have seen that twe're not just two kids planning a party, we're finally getting the support that we wanted from the beginning.

I've had my wedding planned since I could spell the word wedding!! I was the little girl running around the house in a bed sheet wedding dress and towel veil, playing wedding with Barbie and Ken. Me and FH one day just decided to go look at halls...I didnt actually get a ring until July past!

I had an idea of things I wanted and things I liked, but I did not plan anything or see vendors at all until after the engagement

No, I was not one of those little girls who dreamed of being a bride. I never thought about wanted in a WEDDING before I got engaged. I did think about being married though, and thought about being married to DH very shortly after I met him. But I didn't have one of those 'generic' plans, where I just had to fill in the groom, LOL. That worked out well because I feel like the wedding incorporated both of our tastes, and also I didn't have a dream to live up to, if that makes any sense.

I knew we were getting engaged, it was just a matter of when. The only thing I did was make a list of people I wanted to ask to be in the Bridal Party. Other than that I was just looking at gowns online...I know a girl who booked a hall before she was engaged and when the guy found out he broke it off!!!

Re: Did any of you start planning before the ring? (and did you tell anyone?)
I had decided long ago that I didn't want a wedding, however FH had other things in mind.
We started planning and visiting places before being engaged. We went to several bridal shows together as well. I knew he had the ring (he can't keep a secret). He actually let it slip when he was going to give it to me. My cousin said for him to surprise me and, he gave it to me the day before :) I woulda been soooooo upset if he had waited any longer.
We didn't make any decisions until we were actually engaged several weeks. We ended up changing the date as well. I wanted to get married this November after Thanksgiving (he didn't think we had enough time to plan) and he wanted next November, we ended up comprimising on March.

We did. We actually booked our hall about 2 months before he popped the question. I knew we were getting engaged obviously.
We booked our hall and church a month before we got engaged. I didn't really tell that many people though, just my friends and close family. But then my dad told them our wedding date the night we got engaged, so they found out anyway!!

we didnt plan anything before we were engaged. I had no idea he was going to propose. So everything started after we got engaged.

we had our RH booked 2 months before we got engaged - the only people who knew were FH's parents.
We kept it a secret from my family b/c my sister had just gotten engaged and we didn't want to steal the limelight from her. She waited 7 years for her proposal and I only waited 9 months. So she needed some time to enjoy.
Plus I didn't want to deal with people thinking we were nuts booking a RH before we were officially engaged & asking tons of questions.
