Did any of you start planning before the ring? (and did you tell anyone?)

Did any of you start planning before you were officially engaged?

Did you have everything planned out in your head since you were 5? Did you and FH look at vendors etc before you were engaged?

If so, did you tell family/friends you were planning, or did you wait until it was official?

Just curious :)

We didn't officially start planning until after our engagement. However, I did start working on a guest list and a list of songs. Since they were handwritten (and not on the computer) I didn't count it as official planning.

We also went to a wedding probably almost a year before our engagement and my FH turned to me and said, 'this is where we are having our wedding'. And, we are!

Well our story is messed up... we kind of 'eloped.' We live in Germany and you HAVE TO get married in a civil court, and we needed to get married ASAP (we knew we were going to get married sooner or later anyway)... so we made an appointment to get married for 3 weeks after the first informative meeting, and FH (he's actually laready my hubby, just use FH to avoid confusion) oficially proposed to me like 5 days before we got married lol.

yes!! lol. fh decided he was ready to marry me and let me know by signing us up to go to th big bridal show in manhattan..(at the mariott marquis) i told him.. bridal shows are normally for people who are getting married.. he goes yeah i know.. then one day we were in the mall and he takes me into bailey banks nad biddle to size rings.. so i knew something was coming but didn't know when.. i was thinking my bday... we actually had visited about 5 halls before i even got the ring.. matter of fact.. lol he proposed AFTER we got back from a tasting at Chateau Briand...

I made an appointment to see Flowerfield and I kinda knew it was coming and then he proposed to me the morning of the Flowerfield appointment

I knew it was coming soon, so I looked at pictures of a few dresses online, but that was really it. We waited to start officially planning until I got the ring

I knew it was coming, so I signed up for accounts at the Knot and Wedding Channel, and was looking at dresses and stuff, but no serious planning. The week after he proposed though, I was out of the starting gate and we were looking at RH locations 2 weeks later; we knew we wanted to get married within the year and specifically wanted our date, so we were afraid that we would be out of luck but it hasn't been that bad and we've gotten our first choice so far for most things.

We have been talking about getting married since we were first together. So all along I researched places, colors, rings, dresses, etc. I guess you can say I planned from the beginning.

We did. We actually booked our hall about 2 months before he popped the question. I knew we were getting engaged obviously.

I'M STILL NOT OFFICIALLY ENGAGED!!!! I panic about details all the tme though. We look for rings every ten days. Now it's down to me dciding on a stone. I know the setting I want but I havent found the perfect stone. :)
My friends think I'm crazy but that's ok b/c the wedding will be dang near planned by the time we get engaged -less stress for me. His parents have already told their friends and family to start booking tickets for next july. :) cute. i wonder when it will happen? i think it will be the end of june b/c he is moving in jul 1st and i want to def be enaged when we are living together.

I looked at rings ALL the time beforehand (we've been together for over 7yrs) and I would look at wedding dresses online, but thats pretty much it.

we talked about it and talked about... knew it was going to happen, he just wanted to save for a ring. we looked at a few halls before we were offically engaged. we booked the church about 2 weeks before he 'proposed' and booked the hall the day after.

Yup, I started looking online at halls and dresses after we first decided we want to get married. I think its smart to just see whats out there if you absolutely know you are getting engaged soon. I still don't even have anything booked though, so a lot of good all that research did me!
