Just curious. I have always been against this, god forbid something happens, I feel like the holiday might be ruined. I told FH this from the very beginning, no proposals on christmas, no birthdays, and definitely not valentine's day. He choose a day in december when we were in disney world.

Re: Did anyone get engaged on a holiday?
i find the proposal on a holiday/birthday to be too cliche. especially if the couple has been talking about getting engaged and the girl has an idea it might be coming..a holiday becomes too obvious

Re: Did anyone get engaged on a holiday?
I knew the engagement was coming and I figured it might happen on our vacation. We had been together for a loooonnng time and my brother had just gotten married and he and his wife had only been together 9 months when they got engaged. We were on vacation is Disney and FH was just acting strange. He asked me to get something out of his pants pocket that was on the bed and when I did I found a key, but I didnt say anything. he had my engagement ring in a safe in the hotel. I waited and waited for a few days. I thought it was going to be at cinderella's castle but, we were there and nothing happened. Then we went to dinner one night and all of a sudden I see a whole group of waiters heading to our table and then I knew, this was it. It was very sweet and my only regret is I have no pictures from that night.
FH only regret is that after they put the glass slipper on the table I picked the ring up and examined it. LOL. I didnt expect it to be sooo nice.

I know what you mean...he didn't want it to be on a holiday but since we live in different states and we only really get to see each other on holidays he chose Thanksgiving, plus that a day that he knew that our family would be together to celebrate wit us...I guess in that case it was ok

well another state, and seein each other for a holiday totally makes sense... but besides that, thanksgiving is no big deal. i dont agree with the cliche holidays like birthdays, christmas or valentines day
