Hi, I was wondering if anyone had went into the Regal Wedding Gala Sat Jan 27 Regal Wedding Gala - Abella Events
What was your opinion?
I went with my sister - it was great to spend a little time with her and we made it fun. and Preston was a great speaker, but for $75 - I wish i had stayed home.
it was run so poorly - and we felt like they could have cared less if we had showed up--- they were jsut concerned that we had paid.
The door prizes that were promised were non existant - there was a raffal at the end of the day and 2 of the girls that won prizes won 2 more prizes??.
Honestly - if I had ever run an event the way today was run I would have been fired.
They did give is goodie bags - but there was nothing in them except marketing collaterial???
Your thoughts?

Re: Did anyone go today to the Regal Wedding Gala - Abella Events
I was planing on going with my FSIL but when I found out it was $75 we said absolutely not. Bridal showcases usually don't cost money.

Did anyone go SAT JAN 27to the Regal Wedding Gala -Abella Event
So do you think if I call and complain that I could get my money back - is it worth my time - I am still very upset that it was terrible??
I just want to say THANK you for everyone help on these boards - I want you give back by telling you the following that my sister and I experienced yesterday.:
Can I start out by saying that We are not cheap - it is just killing me that it was such a scam that they have going.
The kicker to the whole day yesterday was that we decided not to do the lunch portion that was an additional $75 dollars -( we already paid $75 to get in to walk around) and when we were hungry we went down stairs to the restaurant called Oscars and sat to have lunch - not 10 minutes later we see about 7 - 10 girls come in and sit at come reserved tables - 1 table away from us. there was going to be a big lunch in the dJade room and i guess the location had changed cause there thye were right noext to us.
My sister had full view of everything that was going on and about a half hour later Preston Bailey came in and sat with each table for 5 minutes each and left.
We got to catch up and chat , saw Preston, and when we were done, then we went up stairs have heard him speak for 15 minutes and then he was outta there. But its not really his fault - the MC was not in control of anything. the AV was not really working and she was clueless - maybe her first day??
We definitely think we did it the right way and saved ourselves the 75 additional bucks for the lunch.
SO the moral of the story is that it was NOT worth it. - Sorry just needed to vent.
AND if anyone is out there that actually went PLEASE PLEASE call them and complain- this is the number that you need to call Phone 800-856-2729 ? New York
FEEDBACK is the most important thing!!
the people at the reception desk when we signed in were rude and look at us like we were from mars. Hello are you running a bridal event or not - WE were 2 sisters getting married with in 2 years of each other - POTENTIAL clients. They could have at least, but could have at least been nice, but they did not care.
While in Penn station going home this nice lady came up to us and her daughter is getting married and she was complaining to me about it and that she had dropped off her goodie bag inthe garbage once she found out that is was all marketing materials.
Which wedding showcases are worth going to on Long island - what vendors are worth while? Do you actually get anything if you go ?? Do they give out prizes??
thanks

I know this is a stupid question but-who is Preston Bailey? I would give it a shot and tell them how disappointed you were.

He is a big time wedding planner - did Donald trumps wedding etc etc - and he has like 3 books out. He actually is a really nice guy and has done some beautiful weddings.

Thank you. I really think a bridal show should for the most part be free. I think the tops I would pay is $20, anything more than that, they are just being greedy.

That was at the Waldrof Astoria right? I got the invitation for it and refused to pay that amount of $$$ for it b/c they had been harassing me from day one to attend, while I asked nicely to be taken off their list.
It's no surprise that it was expsensive to get into, and a let down to attend - they must have spent at least $25 per invitation!

Most Bridal shows are free, I would look into those, this way if you don't have a good time you didn't lose anything

try writing a letter too, send it to the head people that run this thing. Send it to everybody! I'm going to a showcase in march that costs $35 I think? Normally I wouldn't pay but it's joan hamberg's showcase and my mom is obsessed with her and talks about her every 3 minutes so my mom loved that she can use me getting married as an excuse to meet her idol joan hamberg.
