My dad's aunt called the week of and said she couldn't make it. She was really sick, though. We didn't have any real no-shows. In fact, my BIL decided to call up one of his friends during the reception, and have him come! And he had brought a date!!!

My dad's aunt called the week of and said she couldn't make it. She was really sick, though. We didn't have any real no-shows. In fact, my BIL decided to call up one of his friends during the reception, and have him come! And he had brought a date!!!

10 people responded and didnt come. Two people (a couple), wrote us a letter 3 weeks after explaining how the husband had a stomach virus and they couldnt make the 3 hour trip (that I understand) and they sent us a gift with the letter.
Another couple came to the Church and never showed up to the reception, even though they responded they would be there. They sent us a gift from the registry, but never called to say why they didnt come. The others, well, they never called. I knew it was bound to happen, but none the less, I was not expecting so many.

Good question, Peanut, I was wondering the same. I am afraid people's dates will not show. I have a few changing their minds on me now about dates, but that's ok, as long as it stays that way.

We had only 2 no-shows, which is good I suppose... though the reasoning was questionable

Then there was one friend of DH's who told DH the day b/f the weddding he and his wife weren't coming b/c he 'got stuck on a business trip' .. Uhhh huhhhh... This is pretty hysterical since DH WORKS with the guy and knew FULL WELL he was NOT ever ON a BUSINESS trip

Yep. My boss and his date! Also several people told me that they were bringing someone and they didn't! I had one guy was nice enough to tell us that he wasn't bring anyone! Then the week before the wedding he said he found a date and then he never showed up with anyone! Go figure!

We had 6 no-shows who responded yes. We still haven't heard from them.

we had about 4 people. They were all older (70+ years) and were too ill. One was my grandmother who got very sick (she since has passed). That was upsetting, but I completely understand.

Thank goodness that didn't happen to us - the only thing was one person came who was not invited.

My DH's Brother self invited his newborn son of 2 weeks!!

We had two couples not show. One couple called us a week later and left a message. The boyfriend, a friend of my DH, saw him on the subway and apologized profusely. They got lost driving out to the Vanderbilt.

The other couple has not called or emailed us. We heard through the grapevine that they had gone to the wrong Vanderbilt. What makes this strange is that my DH spoke with the boyfriend, DH's friend, two days before the wedding about which train to take, directions and that it was in Oakdale.

Of course we wish that both couples had been there and I understand that people get lost and other things happen, but I'm really surprised that we haven't received a phone call or anything from these guests.

yes i had 3 people actually but 2 made a good excuse but canceled the day before and didnt even send a card which was totally rude. the other one was sick but her husband came alone

At my best friend's wedding, there was a couple (parents of a friend of ours) who responded no. Then, the wife called just days before the wedding to say she and her husband were coming but not to tell her son, because she wanted to surprise him (like my friend was REALLY concerned about surprising HER SON in the days before her wedding). Then, even though my friend arranged for dinners and seating for them - THEY NEVER SHOWED! And, they have not called them since, and she's been married over a year. How's that for tacky?

I did!!! My MOH's boyfriend was 'sick' and another guest was also sick. Unfortunately, the day before I had to add another plate because my DH's retarded side of the family doesn't know how to RSVP. AND!!! that guy that I added....didn't even give a gift!!!

Yup we had 4 that did not show up. 1 couple and the dates of 2 friends.
