Since I'm not planning on taking FH's name after the wedding, do I have to do anything?

you wont need to change anything but you will need a marriage license. So at that time they will ask you if you are taking his name or not. You say no and all your paper work will be left in your maiden..
i did change mine or said I was...but never actually did it. So tech Im still my maiden name but I do use DH name for medical ins

I kept my name..as the above poster said, just make sure you fill out the marriage license correctly to reflect that...the best part is you don't need to call 12 million places and change your info....but be prepared for everyone to call you Mrs. NewHusbandsName anyway!!! hahah..

I changed mine half way so far, just on credit cards only. I still have to do drivers license, social security, title on car, banking and so on. This does make my life a bit more confusing, especially when ordering things, I dont know which name to use. So I use both names for now.

i only changed mine last week....it didnt change much so i dont know why i wasnt more motivated to change it right away! i still have to change it with my job.....new business cards!

its not fair that the woman needs to change her name! its such a pain in the a**!!! everything from credit cards to business cards to my cell phone message!

I didn't want to change my maiden name either, but DH really wanted me to take his name. So we compromised and I hyphenated the two names. I'm happy with that decision for the most part, except that it's a pain in the a$$ anytime I have to sign something!

I added his on.. I have done nothing thus so far and don't need to if I don't want to.
In time maybe I will if children come along.

I hyphanated (very bad spelling lol) on the marriage license. But everything else such as drivers license, SSN etc was kept under my maiden name. I do however, use his name for certain misc. things

i took his name... i miss mine, particualrly as my new name is more difficult to pronounce and people screw it up all the time...
but i am traditioanl i guess and didnt' think twice about it. i don't like the hyphenated deal (too long and complicated) and i feel like all of us (when we have kids) should have the same last name.

Of course, you still need a marriage license. But, you would also want to update your benefits, so that you're listed as eachother's spouses for insurance stuff, etc. etc.

I have changed mine on everything except on my drivers license...I have not had the patience to go to the DMV yet
