get a non MOB dress? my mom refuses to get a traditional MOB dress, and i'm worried because i can't imagine what she's going to wear...and i'm worried she's going to wear the same color as the MOH.

Re: did anyone's mom...
my mom talks about this but I hope when she comes around to ordering she will go for a MOB dress. She is afraid of looking old....not that she is old but she IS 64!

Re: did anyone's mom...
Is your mom open to you coming and offering opinions? My mom ended up with a MOB dress (but not a traditional one - definitely more modern! - all silk in aqua!) - but she repeatedly asked my opinion as to whether some colors were too close to the bm dresses, whether I minded certain things (like the length), etc. Even if it's not a traditional dress, I think it would still be a nice thing for you and your mom to do together, and this way you can 'coach' your mom so that you both feel comfortable with her choice!

Re: did anyone's mom...
my mom got a beautiful bronze/brown dress. just a gorgeous gown. she looks amazing in it. my aunt for my cousin's wedding wore a designer gown. both look beautiful and had nothing to do with the bride being the star. if she wants to buy something that isnt the traditional MOB dress as long as its not the bride's colors let her go for it. its her day as well.

Thanks I can probably convince her to let me have my say.

Re: did anyone's mom...
My mom did. She didn't like the jackets. She wore this plain navy blue gown that had a small train. It wouldn't have been my first choice but it was better than the ivory colored gown she picked out

hmm..I don't think it's too traditional. there are a ton out there that do not look like 'older women' dresses

Re: did anyone's mom...
my mom bought her dress as soon as I booked the RH. She got it at Nordstroms and I was a little annoyed because she selected a color and I guess now my wedding colors will have to be the color of her dress...GRRR..

I don't think there is anything wrong with not wearing a traditional MOB dress. So long as the dress she chooses is a classic, simple elegance.

Re: did anyone's mom...
My mom got a knee-length dress from nordstrom. It has a jacket, but I don't think that makes it a 'MOB' dress. She loves it, and I do too! :)

My mother is definitely not getting a traditional MOB dress - and frankly I don't really want her to. She's probably going to order a Jim Hjelm bridesmaid dress in whatever colors she wants - still classy and elegant but not typical MOB.

Re: did anyone's mom...
my mom actually got a BM dress instead of a MOB dress. it was really classy looking and she doesn't look her age at all, and i thought it looked amazing on her so i actually convinced her to wear it. and she got a sheer matching jacket to go with it. i don't think there's anything wrong with it. who's to say that a MOB dress has to be frumpy and older looking?
