I will probably register for both fine china as well as everyday stuff. Growing up, as well as now, we do use the fine china when we have guests over. Through the years, we have dropped and broken so many everyday plates and eventually have to buy new sets. I have 2 other sisters, so at this point I don't know who is going to inherit the family china

If you want good china, then register for it. It is expensive, but sometimes people will chip in together for something like that. Just make sure you give your guests other inexpensive choices, and you should be fine.

I registered for casual china, Colorwave, by Noritake. I love it--I'm not a formal china kind of girl, so it suits me. It's a bit less expensive also, so that's an option for you.

My pattern was by Waterford for $89 (5 piece place setting)

I registered but I found a cheaper pattern that I liked. My place settings were only $59 a peice. So I made it so it wasn't so expensive.

The one I want is the price too. What pattern is yours?

I registered for good china only because I found a pattern that I liked and wasn't too expensive. I have received 10 of my 12 place settings and luckily, they were bought when on sale. I registered for Miksasa Platinum Crown

I did try to not go overboard on the place setting. And we're not doing crystal.

We didn't....we're not 'china people' whatever that means...
We registered for really nice plates that we will use as our 'special plates'.
If we feel compelled to use China...We have my Mom's.

I registered for it and got all 21 settings. I got a set from Mikasa that on sale and also out at the Outlets was $25 a place setting. Just plain white with a platinum band around the plate. Simple and classic and best of all - inexpensive!!!!

I didn't. I felt it wasn't worth it, because I knew that we would never use it. I didn't want people wasting their money. If you don't feel comfortable registering for it, I don't think you should, but that's JMO.

I plan to,. I might not want it now but I am sure down the line in the future I will and then I will kick myself for not registereing

We did because we have many family holiday dinners through out the year AND we plan on having Shabbat dinners on Friday nights. Regardless of how true our observances are, we feel the dynamic of dinner time conversation within a family has been lost. A nicely set dinner table always gave me a sense of home.

Yes, I reg. for Vera Wang China. It was $120 per place setting. So far I have 8 of the 12 place settings and some pieces, but people bought it for my shower, some as a gift because they could not attend the wedding, I get some pieces for anniversary gifts and some 'together' Christmas presents.

I also reg. for everyday dishes. The were at Linens and Things.

I haven't used it yet. We just bought a house so I will put it in my china cabinet/hutch in my dining room and use it now.
