I didn't, I don't think it's necessary and she didn't seem to mind. Ask her how she feels about it.

I went with my FMIL....I am so glad I did too- it was a nice day for the two of us...and I got to give her a different opinion than her own! It was a good bonding day!

Re: did everyone take FMIL shopping for her gown??
I'm going with her I believe. My FMIL doesn't drive and FH or FFIL won't take her so I'm the only one, unless she finds something in a catalog. Hopefully we'll start doing that soon!

No one went with me gown shopping, and I didn't go with either mother gown shopping. We live in different places. It wasn't a big deal for us.

Re: did everyone take FMIL shopping for her gown??
FMIL asked me to go with her (I really didn't want to) but told her to make appointments and I'd be happy to come along. I did it that way because I knew she wouldn't be organized enough to do that. And I'm right. But 3 months away and she has nothing!
She actually bought an $8,000 dress in Bergdof Goodman and returned it. But not before telling everyone at my shower about it and how much it cost.
She can be disgusting! But I guess its better than the wedding gown she looked at. And now that we're three months out, I know she won't be able to get a white gown. ha!

Re: did everyone take FMIL shopping for her gown??
My FMIL went on her own and looked, found what she liked, then invited me to go with her to decide btw 2. She bought the one I liked. It lasted about 30 minutes total.

Nope, mine lives upstate and ordered hers online. My FSMIL went shopping with her sister, but I did offer to go with her, since she lives in the neighborhood and didn't want to pick someone elses color and step on anyones toes....in-laws...grrr

Re: did everyone take FMIL shopping for her gown??
Initially, I didnt. My sisters went with her but we all have the same taste. Then they stopped making the dress so she had to go back and order something else. THEN I went with her.

I think it depends on your relationship with FMIL. Mine wanted me to come, and since I like her, I wanted to go. It was a great afternoon!!

Re: did everyone take FMIL shopping for her gown??
I didn't, she didn't ask and I didn't offer. But I lived in the city and she is in LI, so it wasn't really convenient for me. My SIL went with her.

I didn't go shopping with her, I never even seen her dress, I just know what color it is. Don't drive yourself crazy, you're not obligated to go with her.

I didn't go with my FMIL. Believe me...it was better that way. I would have been freaking out! It all worked out ok though

I offered to go but she ignored me and went with SIL (her step son's wife).
