Yes, and apparently my Dad gave FH a hard time. FH insisted that he do it in person and he kept calling my Dad (who had a feeling about what he was going to ask him) and my Dad kept giving him a run around. When FH finally got to ask him, my Dad said 'of course, but no returns!' He still jokes about it and I'm sure he'll say something like that on our wedding day!

yes - he asked both of my parents and they were thrilled. Neither of my sisters husbands did that.

My Dad later told me that Rusty was all nervous and flustered and started pleading his case and my Dad just interrupted him and said, 'Are you asking me to let you marry my little girl?'

He said it was really nice of him. Because the last time he had been asked (by my BIL), he got:

'I knocked up your daughter. Can I marry her? Please?'

My BIL is always joking so my father didn't think he was serious and he laughed at him. But he really did knock up my sister.

My FH did not ask my dad because he does not get along with him. He did ask my mom for permission though and she said she had no idea what to say.

FH did ask my dad. I told him that I wanted to surprise my parents myself when I got engaged. I also told my parents that. However, he felt like he should ask him. So, he called my dad and asked him not to tell my mom so I could be the first to tell her. My dad managed to keep the secret for a few weeks and I got to make my mom cry when I called and told her

Same here, only my FH met with both of my parents to ask for permission. It was very sweet!

He asked both my parents. My father's reaction: 'For crying out loud, you want to MARRY her too?! That means we have to put up with you for even longer?!' Totally kidding. They were very happy for us!

Yes. I don't know exactly how the conversation went but my FH spoke to both of parents before he proposed and got their blessing.

FH and my father built the ring together and then my dad held onto it for 3 months while FH was waiting to propose bc we live together

DH asked my dad. We were in town visiting all weekend and stayed at my dad's house. DH did not ask my dad until about 7:30 a.m. on Sunday. My dad had threatened to kill DH all weekend long and at every chance he got my dad reminded DH about all the guns in the house and pulled one out when he noticed DH wearing a necklace with my initial charm (from junior high).

DH woke up at like 4 a.m. on Sunday and went down to talk to my dad at like 7:30 a.m. once he got up the courage to ask him. DH said they talked for about 2 1/2 hours and the last few minutes was when DH asked my dad if he could marry me. My dad got up right when DH said he had to ask him a very important question. My dad was in the kitchen with DH and looked around a lot. DH asked if he was looking for his gun.

From what I gather, it all went very well. The first thing my dad said when DH asked him if he could marry me is 'you know she gets cold easily' as if I am defective

Later when we got to breakfast my dad saw a friend of his and introduced DH as his 'future son-in-law'!!!! He had been introducing him as Mr. 'T' all weekend - but I think he just did that to mess with DH.

My parents are divorced (almost 20 years now) but DH did ask my mom for her blessing.

Yes, but he had the ring already. He asked him in the morning and gave me the ring like two hours later.

FH asked before we headed to Vegas before he proposed....luckily dad said yes

My parents are pretty religious (esp mom) and they go to mass usually every sunday morning. FH surprised them by showing up at the church one sunday morning, sat through mass with them and then asked them both at the back of the church after mass was over. They both gave him their blessings and cried and congratulated him.

Later FH tells me 'the reason I did in church is cause I figure they couldn't say no there!'
