Yes actually he took my mom dad and brother out to dinner while I was away on a business trip. I thought it was very sweet that he did it.

Well he didn't ask, but he went to their house and told them about it the night before while I was out with my friends (so sneaky

No, he didn't. He figured, I'd been out of my parents house a long time, I was an adult and even if my father said no, he was still going to marry me. (not that he would have said no!)

I will add though, that my father had no problem telling me he was disappointed that DH didn't go to him first.

Everything u said.. is the same thing i was going to say.. My dad was a little hurt that he didn't ask him.. and so was I

he is the first boyfriend my dad liked!

No Alex didnt....kinda upset that he didnt do that either! It was funny though bc when we did tell my dad the news he looked up and said 'When I give her away, you know that means we wont take her back?!' We all laughed...but my parents were still happy!

My parents are pretty religious (esp mom) and they go to mass usually every sunday morning. FH surprised them by showing up at the church one sunday morning, sat through mass with them and then asked them both at the back of the church after mass was over. They both gave him their blessings and cried and congratulated him.

Later FH tells me 'the reason I did in church is cause I figure they couldn't say no there!'

the best part of that story is my mom was at that mass - ran home - woke me up and said 'lori's boyfriend was in church with her parents without HER - he definitely asked for their permission'

my mom barely knows you guys and she guessed it! tee hee good thing i didnt spill the beans but i told everyone at work - we were all so excited!!

Nope. But I wasn't worried, because I knew he pretty much had their blessing, since he was the first boyfriend I ever had that they actually approved of!!!

My parents live about 4 hours away so FH called my Dad that morning (he proposed later that day). He didn't ask my Dad for permission, but just clued him in on what he was going to do. I only wish I could have heard how that conversation went!

He spoke to my parents first, but I think he just kind of told them he was going to be proposing, he didn't actually ask for permission. It was still sweet of him.

Yes my FH asked my dad. I felt so bad when I found out-my Dad can be a little intimidating. My Dad's response was: That's fine. But don't you want to be happy Joe? Nice right? My Dad just had to mess with him.
