did u guys know?????

I was talking to some newlywed couples that I met at the resort where we were on our HM and we were exchanging 'war stories' especially the cost of things
so this couple from Seatle and Wisconsin mentioned how much they paid at their RH's pp, mine and DH's mouth just dropped
one couple paid at a very lavish golf country club 30 pp and the other at some country club 35 pp
they described their wedding and they were just a bit less elaborate than all of ours over here (less food)

for a few mins me and DH literally couldnt speak! we were shocked!

then we mentioned how much we paid to them and they were floored, they couldnt understand how anyone can afford to get married living in NY and how happy they are to live where they do.

btw, we compared professions and a ball park of what each makes, and its the same (one girl was an accountant so for me that was a good comparison as I am myself on the accounting side)

needless to say me and DH got drunk after that cause we were so depressed......

It is really crazy how much these weddings cost.
Im not sure I can even justify how much Im spending on this wedding. Its really ridiculous. I will say though that if I didnt already own a home things for me would be a lot different as far as how much we are spending.

Haha I've noticed that! I used to post on theknot.com a lot and the local board s*cked! I guess all you lovely LI ladies came over here! Anyway, so I always posted on my month board but it was international. We hardly ever talked prices because it varied SO greatly. But boy did it hurt my heart to see what some of these ladies were paying. And they thought that was expensive!

Though it does make sense since our cost of living is so much higher.

I know tell me about my friend that lives in Alabama is getting married on 10/10/10 in their equivlent of Oheka, A giant old plantation house. It is gourgous and is only pays a 4000 site fee and 35pp. I couldn't be leave it!!! She is also looking for an apt and for a 2 bed it is 900 a month. soo jealous. And I know the whole cost of living thing but she make 17 dollars an hr and is still in school and he makes alot of money comprable to what he would be making if he lived in NY. I made me sick!

wow, thanks for depressing the heck outta me!

$30-40 per person would be sooo great!

but if it makes anyone feel any better, my friend got married in MA and paid $125 per person and didn't even get an open bar (there were lots o' food upgrades though) ... so at least it's an east-coast thing

the Wisconsin ppl told me that their house mortgage is 900 a month for a very big house

we told them how much we're paying for our tiny azz 1 bedroom they started cracking up

we have friends of the family that moved down to VA about 15 years ago... but they still come up here and visit often (and my parents bought property about 5 min away from them). well Lynn (some of you might remember her, she sent her eparty RSVP A YEAR late) she asked if she could have my quotes from RHs after we booked... she only wanted them so she could look at the menu's because she's opening a catering hall down there and wants a 'ny menu'... well she saw some of the prices and GAGGED... literally GAGGED... AND most of the prices we got were between $85 and $150/pp .... she was FLOORED.

not to be rudeeeee but.. you alll couldve had a wedding at Leonards. i was quoted 60$ pp and the guy was throwing soo much stuff in

so complain alllllllllllllll u want about costs of weddings... we CHOSE to spend what we did. lolll

and dont forget the 10k wedding packages
