I bought a cheap cake serving set and a pair of regular champagne glasses and put the nice sets on the registry. SIL bought the cake serving set and champagne glasses and we used those instead of my purchases.

My mother actually bought us toasting flutes years ago from Ireland (she bought them when I was a teenager...before I even had a bf lol) and gave them to us the day we were engaged. As for the cake server - we used the same one that FILs used when they were originally married.
