I know this is kind of stupid b/c you really shouldnt care what other people think as long as you are happy.. but I was just wondering if anyone else ever wondered what their families were going to think of your reception location choice??

Re: Did you ever worry....
I know my parents love it... they've been to a wedding there and loved the tasting.
As for his parents, they came to the tasting as well and I think they really liked it!
Honestly, even if they didn't, its what we wanted

Re: Did you ever worry....
I just ment that most the people in my family and my fh's family have alot of money.. and have their weddings at fancier and more 'elegant' places. We are paying for the wedding on our own and while I love our choice and dont doubt it and it is the best we can afford I feel like some people will look down on it

Re: Did you ever worry....
we picked our location because we love it. i hope that other people will love it too, but i don't really care if they don't.
i have come to the conclusion in planning the wedding that i will never make everyone happy. i can try to make most people happy, but most of all i want to make us happy.

I did! And, I drove myself crazy over it. My fiance and I love the place and we can afford it and make it happen. If they criticize then shame on them!!!

I am in the same situation. It was either have it at a fancy expensive place and cut my guest list in half, or have everybody there are a cheaper place. We chose to have everyone there at the cheaper place. Most everyone knows we are paying for it ourselves so I think for the most part they understand and will not look down on it.

Re: Did you ever worry....
I worried about it in the beginning....everyone was giving me grief about the money I was spending- 'Why aren't you putting this to a house' blah blah.....but I knew if I didn't have the wedding I wanted, I would regret it. I did what I wanted, had it the way I wanted, and didn't care about what everyone was saying. This day is about the bride and groom, and not everyone else. YOU and your FH enjoy yourselves.

I know that some people will talk... and really I think, let them..... some people aren't really happy unless they are putting someone else down. It's sad really.

Re: Did you ever worry....
i worried about it at first because my family is very traditional and very wedding savy but you know what, times have changed and it is only about what you want. i can't spend time worrying about others when there is already so much stress just hoping that everything goes right..if they don't like it tough..lol and by the way i doubt that anyone will have anything negative to say about anything you choose.

Re: Did you ever worry....
We felt like that because it was in a hotel. They began to love the idea once they realized they didn't have to drive home after the wedding. They can just push the 'up' button.
On a side note..if you're paying for it, it's nice to have approval from your parents but if they're not paying for it then what can you do?
