you know on those decorating shows the designer will pick up a small vase or lamp or piece of fabric and say...this was the inspiration...well did you have one? and what was it...
I am trying to figure out what to do with our living room....it seems that I should be working around our artwork...but I am not really inspired...
I'm going to go and take pictures of it..maybe you guys can help...

Re: SO HERE IS MY QUESTION:
With the other pics, or instead of?
They say (and I don't know who they are) that you shouldn't have red in the bedroom, no clue why but that is what 'they' say.
thanks Lisa...since DH's parents were musicians...they lived in that artsy world of Paris and New York...so we have acquired some of that collection...and DH's friends in Spain do the Native American art...which was their wedding present to us...
We always want to get more...but we are running out of wall space...we have tons of other prints (Matisse and Picasso) in our spare room...
They are form JCPenny.com, and I would love to do hardwood with area rugs, but are trying to save now, so we can add hardwood later.

Re: SO HERE IS MY QUESTION:
What about getting some throw pillows that match the couch and then maybe bring in anouther color with it. On pottery barn.com they have these leather pillows, or silk one's with beaded edges.

Re: SO HERE IS MY QUESTION:
maybe the rug on the bottom, with the red indian picture?
I really like hardwood floors...but I love tiles as well...It gives it that Mediterraean feel/look
I'm so confused...

Re: SO HERE IS MY QUESTION:
I'm a big fan of the clump o'picture look with either selves or not. Here is a Pottery Barn wall with a mix of pictures leaning and other little things. I have a bunch of NY city images..all sizes, shapes that I did in this style. I hung a couple of shelves, leaned some pictures, hung some to the wall around and above the shelf and it looks nice. Brings some cohesion to an otherwise random house of pictures.
And I think that would look awesome since you have theme around your wonderful art!

Re: SO HERE IS MY QUESTION:
Something else that could be cool, since all of your art are of European artists would be to get a larger antique map to hang somewhere. (I'm a map addict though, so I'm kinda biased!) Like a map of Paris on the same wall as your Parisian prints...
I do have to look into the shelves...it may break up the wall a bit more...
I have looked into the antique maps...
should I make the paintings the focal point?

Re: SO HERE IS MY QUESTION:
If you love the paintings you can definately make them a focal point. I would try to use one or two at the most as inspiriation pieces. I cant see the art well enough to give any specific suggestions.
