I said yes, but I guess it depends on the bride. So far, all my friends have been easy going--cost conscious, not crazy stressors.

in my one experience, no!

the dress was heinous, and could never be worn again (let's just say it was gold and had pouffy sleeves.) Granted, I was like 17 years old, and it was for my aunt and uncles wedding, but still. The memories of that dress will haunt me forever.

taht's horrible! well you only had one dress..i ended up with TWO dresses ...grrrr..

so my friend initially asked 4 of her friends to be bridesmaids and she said we can choose our own dresses. so me and the other bridesmaids went to choose our dresses and bought them. THEN after we bought them, my friend said taht her grandmother in law said, 'how come you arent asking your sister in law to be your bridesmaid,' so she added her to the list which is fine, but THEN she said that she didnt look good in the dresses we bought already and bought another dress. Needless to say by that point I couldnt return my dress so I ended up with 2.

I never wore the other dress. Just the other day I tried it on...hehe. Don't get me wrong, I love my friend, just very annoyed!!!!

OMG!! She should have reimbursed you for the dress IMO....

I've never been a BM ... I'm the first of my friends to be getting married

I know..but it's fine...it was soo long ago, but I'm sad I never wore the dress....people always say they want to buy a dress that you can wear again, but u know what I only wore ONE bridesmaid dress over again...

It's just not gonna happen..why deny it.. haha.

I have to say I said yes. Every bridal party I have been in I have been honored to be in. What I hated in the last BP I was in was the brides manipulative mother. She was a B*&^%. The bride whose party I was in and was suppose to be in mine has turned into a manipulative B*&^% as well and has not responded to my wedding and the response date was oct 4 and she is the only person not to respond so I just assume it is a no for her and her husband

I answered yes. I was in my friends wedding last august. The dresses were very formal and very pretty.
She even paid for half of the cost of them!!!!!!!!

The day before her wedding I went w/ her to the nail salon and she paid for me to get my nails done so she could use up her gift certificate she had received from a student for christmas.

i'm going to abstain from answering this. i've been in two wedding in my life so far and they were GREAT. the only issue i had with my friend's wedding this past april was that of her 5 person bridal party, 2 refused to help with the bridal shower/bachelorette party and refused to help pay. but the bride was great

now, the two i'm in next year on the other hand. . . don't even get me started.

I voted for didn't care... I didn't particularly love it or hate it.

I think in the grand scheme of things, I'd actually prefer NOT to be a bridesmaid, but it's an honor and usually pretty fun.

No, I did not like it The last time I was a BM, it was at my current Director's wedding. She was an Assistant Director then and it was about four years ago. Her favorite color is light blue and she could not find a dress she liked anywhere. So, she came up with this brilliant idea , she decided that in order to save us money (yeah right.....), she would have this lady she never met before make us the dresses. Well the lady's store was in the Bronx...mind you....none of the BM's lived in the Bronx. We had to visit this lady four times once to take measurements, a second time to try the dress on, a third time to make adjustments, and a fourth time to pick-it up. When I arrived to pick-up the dress......it was not even finished I had to wait two hours for her to add the finishing touches. On top of that her store was located in Hunts Point, it was the evening hour, summer day, and hookers all over I was by myself and since I don't know the Bronx, I did not know what to do Anyway, on top of all that....the dress was horrible She added some rhinestones and some fake boobs that made my boobs look all twisted. And that is not all , after the church ceremony....I noticed the seam on the side of the corset falling apart.

By the time I arrived at the reception hall, there was a small hole on that side. I thought it only happened to me.....well....it happened to two other BM's. What $%^&* Then to top it all, she doesn't give us anything as a BM's favor. I will never do that to my BM's. I am only having two BM's, their dress will be black and tea lenght. I found a great price at a Bridal Salon and I am going to let them choose their own style, so they can wear them again for another ocassion. Well...this is my story

You just had to say that because you knew I would see this

I've never been a bridesmaid. I was a junior bridesmaid about 13 years ago & I remember having fun, but I think that's different. I'm looking forward to being a MOH in '09
