Did you make a big deal out of...

your one year 'til your wedding????

I thought it was a big deal...my FI did not We went out for dinner...I got him something...a card and a little gift) he got me nothing..not even a card...I threw a fit

He said he didn't think it was a card and flowers occasion..

Just wondering what all of you did..thanks girls

FI and I didn't do anything special really, I just told him to be prepared for the ball and chain to lock on 365 days from then!

I hugged my mom when I got home from work that day, she was a little upset that in a year, I wasn't going to be living with her anymore.

My mom gave me flowers and a card...thats just the way we are in my house...cards for every occasion and I guess I have come to expect it...we should have stock in Hallmark

don't feel bad. my FH refuses to buy cards, for anyone! he says they're a waste of money and he hates buying them. I have never received one from him.

Whenever I pout about it, he always says something like 'well, I could always take back that diamond pendant/earrings/etc and get you a card instead'

this is my reaction to that =

We didn't do anything special considering it was Thursday night...FH looked at it as we will be celebrating this date for the next 65 years or so! We did though go to see our band 'The Projekt' perform at the Carlyle showcase that night....

Awwww. My mom's the same way. She didn't get me a card for my one year but we're a very card-driven family, I had to teach FI to pick out good cards. Everything he picked out had a guy mooning you or something!

I guess I was being somewhat dramatic then ....to me it was a big deal

we'll be married before our one year engagment date, but I think that I would have forgotten it

I don't think you are being overly-dramatic! My FH has totally missed our last two anniversaries (for various totally legit reasons), so I think that is why I had no real expectations for our 1-year to wedding anniversary! Different events mean different things to different people.

I definitely think it is an important day - in exactly 1 year you'll be officially married! Truth is that sometimes men just don't get it

I have the one and only card he gave me saved in my memory box - I love it. It would be nice if I had a few more to add to my collection! Last VDay I hand made him one and it took me hours and hours (with lace and all that stuff - I'm so lame ) and I asked him if he still had it and he was all 'um yeah, somewhere probably'. SURE - glad I took the time to do that I don't think he understands the concept of a sentimental card - he would so much rather have a playstation game

It just makes me upset that I pour my heart into these damn cards and they aren't really appreciated...I mean I get teary when I read the ones from him..and I watch him when he read mine..he like skims them and then is like..'oh thanks'...next time I am going to write something strange to see if he really read it
