Re: Did you make a big deal out of...

The weekend of our one year mark was a pretty busy one. I didn't actually see my FI on our one year away mark....but the next day he came to pick me up and had a dozen roses and he was all happy. He kept saying 'One year away....' I gave him a card. That day we went to pay our third payment for our catering hall.....went to his cousins Firemans Instilation dinner and then on Sunday we went to see Beauty and the Beast on Broadway and went to the restaraunt Dip..which I highly reccommend. The weekend was all about us!! It was sooo special. So yeah, in a way we definitely celebrated our one year away

Re: Did you make a big deal out of...

Well considering we got engaged in May and getting married in April, I never had a 1 year mark. We just had our year and a half anniversary of dating last week and didn't even do anything!!! I figure we'll probably just celebrate our 2 year anniversary in January, and then after April will just celebrate the wedding anniversary!!

Although I have to say my FH is good about cards, he only gives them to me on the main occasions (birthday, valentine's day, anniversary). My ex and I used to give and receive cards, gifts and flowers for no reason.

Kathleen, that day I woke up & kissed him & said Happy Anniversary. He's like 'its not our anniversary yet.' All day I was busting his chops with Happy Anniversary.

He was working and I said, what are we doing tonight. He's like, I'm working overtime. I hung up & he called back & said 'what do you want to do.'

Anyway, we ended up going out to eat (& it happened to be across from our wedding hall) so we were outside on the water and looking at our hall and like next year at this time, that will be us in there.

It was nice, but no card or anything. He kinda didn't get that it was a big deal either.

To be honest, it wouldn't have ever occured to me to celebrate 'the year before' if you hadn't posted this.

My FH doesn't have a clue either when it comes to stuff like this, so I wouldn't expect anything.

My FI was in Italy for 2 weeks on our year before. I was a little sad because I hadn't heard from him in a few days, but sure enough, about 3pm he called to say 'Happy one year before our day Anniversary', I was happy with a call....

Although I wouldn't have been upset if flowers were delivered my way...

We didn't end up doing anything special.... He worked during the day and when I told him I wanted to go out, he was like 'What, you already want a minus 1 year anniversary?' I had to laugh...

We went out for a nice dinner in the city. No cards or gifts. Not sure if he would've made a big to do about it on his own if I hadn't been talking about the 'one year mark' for weeks before though.

FMIL called to wish us a Happy Pre-Anniversary though which was cute.
