I did and feel bad sometimes, BUT he was always the one talking about 'The Wedding' ...and then never taking any action, so I finally said, ya know your all talk huh? I came into this relationship ready, and am still here because I'm ready, if you at this same point are not, tell me know because we are on seperate pages...I was engaged within 6 months!

Re: Did you put any pressure on your fi?
Well there are certain things i wanted and when we got together we talked about it. He knew i wanted to be engaged by no later than 30 because i want to have childern no later than 33. And on top of all my other 'wants' i want to be married at least a year to a year and a half before having children. He agreed with everything i wanted...We have always been in sync with our goals in life. So when he was really thinking that it was time we talked about it and came to the decision...

No not at all.. however, there is this girl that I work with that has been dating a guy for 4 months.. bought a house with each other after 2 months and has been pressuring him to propose and nags him all the time and is constantly talking about it at work.. it is annoying to me, I can only imagine what she is like towards him

Re: Did you put any pressure on your fi?
I guess no
We had always discussed being engaged. Last memorial day we went to look at rings together so that he would know what type of ring i had in mind. He didn't want to spend money on something i might not like all too much. I didnt' know when he would propose because all we did was 'look'. Christmas and new years past so i thought he was NEVER going to do it. Then on january 10th, just a normal weekend, he took me to NYC where we re-did our first date, and asked me in central park. I was in total shock because i was definitely not expecting it, especially since he had just started his second semester of law school and was extremely busy.

Re: Did you put any pressure on your fi?
i wouldn't call it 'pressure' per se, as we kind of planned it together. right off the bat i was very open with my views about marriage and children. i also shared my '2 year rule' - the point at which i would naturally evaluate my relationship and perhaps move on... we had talked about getting engaged 'in the spring', but he did actually surprise me with when and how he did it

Yes a little. We had been going out for 7 years at the time,we were 27 and we were living together. He comes from a family full of divorce so I understand him being scared. Heck, my parents have been married for 37 years and I was scared!

After dating 5 years and knowing him for 17, heck yeah. He got the message when I started looking for jobs out of state.

YES! And I am MAD at myself because he already had the ring and had a cool proposal planned, but I bugged him so much that he proposed all stupid. It may go down in history as one of the world's worst proposals, but I hope the wedding will make up for it.

No. I told him i wanted to finish school and then get married. He and i went to a jewelry store to get his watch fixed, and he said if i could have any ring in the showcase which one would i want. I laughed and looked at a saphire ring and said 'this one'. He then laughed and said 'no, I was talking about engagement rings for later, so i now what style you like and how big you want it. TO put it nicely i fell in love with this one ring, 2 weeks later he went back and bought it with out me knowing and then 3 weeks after that he proposed and i had no idea it was coming.

Not at all, I wanted a willing partner, not a forced one!!!
my thoughts exactly!!! I only had to wait 7 years!!!
This was me exactly. He shocked the heck out of me right before our 7 year anniversary. I knew it was coming, I just didn't know when.
