Did you put down an earlier ceremony time on invites?

Original post by natinwpb

My ceremony begins at 11:30am. Just thinking I should put 11:15 on invites.

Me ceremony starts at 2:30, and I put 2:30 on the invites. However, my situation is unique due to parking constraints, so the direction card specifically states that transportation from the parking area to the ceremony ends at 2:15.

ok, so we didnt lie on ours and now i am nervous!!! i guess late arrivals will have to wait in the lobby. eep. although, we could always start a few minutes later. our ceremony will be shorter than the half hour allotted because we are only having 1 reading and its a short one. ~lacey

If i put down an earlier time, I would have to put 2:45! eek!

oh no! What are we going to do?!?!?!?

aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh!! I don't know!

Somebody please help us!

I figured it out last night......

I am going to write:

twelve forty-five in the afternoon

You can write:

two forty-five in the afternoon

Clear. No room for confusion. Still written formally. Early enough for the late comers to be on time. Late enough for the early birds not to be pissed. They still get to mingle (and listen to ceremony music while waiting... in my case, the string trio). Late enough that they won't interfere with the people leaving my 11:30 mass and won't see the entire time of my florist setting up. I think we're good!

yay!!!

yup! our ceremony started at 5pm and we put 4:30pm, our hall advised us to do that. glad they did. I heard that some guests arrived just before I walked down the aisle.

Good call ladies, I didn't even think to do this! Good thing I haven't ordered invites yet.

Don't be nervous---it's done and will be fine...we had no problems, only late people were one group that got lost and as you said just start a few minutes late if you think there will be a prob (if you can depending on where your ceremony is!).

I put 4:00pm on the invite... the ceremony is 4:30pm. We did that bc most of our guests are coming from Brooklyn/Queens/Manhattan and the ceremony/reception is in Oakdale. We did let everyone know to get there between 4pm and 4:30pm.

My hall didn't like what I did though... start asking why I did that... who told me to do that... blahblah.

Our hall recommended that we put 11 for our 11:30 ceremony that way if 'aunt sue' is 20 minutes late as usual, she'll actually be 10 mintues early....just to avoid people walking in to sit down in the middle of the ceremony. I think it's a great idea...even if the guests that arrive right at 11 are a little annoyed, it's a small cost for getting everyone ON TIME. We also aren't telling anyone the 'truth' to avoid some of the hostility....they'll think that the delay was unintentional.
