Yes it was, although we were dating for a long time. I had no idea he had already gotten the ring or was going to ask while we were away.

i had no idea - even though we were together so long he told me he wanted to wait 2 more years
actually a week before he proposed was the first time EVER that he let me look at e-rings. . . he already had mine but he was nervous about it so he found some similar ones in the store and asked if i liked them . . . lol

We had talked about marriage and the prospect of getting engaged, but bc we had only been together for a few months I didn't realize he was going to do it so quickly. We had signed the lease for our apartment in November and were scheduled to move in together in January. My mom had expressed some concern to him and he assured her that I'd have a ring on my finger by the time we moved in.
So I'd say 50% surprised!!

Yes and No. He took me shopping for the diamond ring to see what I liked, and what would fit, but I didn't know when it was coming and we had discussed waiting 2 years - he waited 3 months after we shopped!!!!!!!!!

i picked out the ring and knew it was in disney but i didnt know how he was gonna propose or what day so i was still somewhat surprised

I knew it would be soon, but was completely surprised when he did it. He went shopping for the ring on his own.
I was still clueless even while he was proposing!

We had picked out a ring together but he completely mislead me to think it wasn't going to be for months after the actual night he did it. So I was shocked!

Absolutely not. That is one thing he is just totally incapable of doing. I love surprises, he loves to ruin them. LOL...but he did plan a really nice night out, so props to FH!!!

We had our ceremony and reception location booked before he properly proposed.
But the proposal day was a surprise. I had my ring custom made and he picked it up so I didn't see it beforehand. We went into the city, for a carriage ride around Central Park, he proposed in front of the Angel of the Waters fountain (my fav CP spot) at Bethesda Terrace, then we went to our fav cafe for hot cocoa, later went out to dinner, and stayed overnight at the Bryant Park Hotel.
He did some major planning, even bringing a change of clothes without me knowing, had flowers delivered to the hotel room, the works.
He was even trying to get my sister and best friend to meet us for breakfast the next morning at the cafe but they couldn't do it.
So the fact that I knew it was coming didn't cheapen it at all.

Well I knew it was coming since he asked me a month before if I still wanted the same ring but I didn't think it would be as soon as it was and the morning of I was in SHOCK...it was 6 am before we left for Cancun for my bday and I was rushing him out the door and wanted to brush my teeth and he was trying to stop me to propose

We were together for 6 years before he proposed, and we already have a house together, so I knew that he was going to propose soon, but I was completely, totally surprised when he did it!!! We never went ring shopping, or I never told him what I wanted, and he got me the most amazing ring! What means so much to me is that he went shopping on his own and picked out something that he would want me to wear for the rest of my life and what he thought that I would love. This ring is the most special gift he could ever give me.
