Did/Didn't use videography? Any regrets?

Did/Didn't use videography? Any regrets?

Good rainy afternoon!
I am undecided about getting a video done. For anyone who didn't get a videographer- do you regret not having a video?

If you did get a videographer, do you think it was worth it?

Well, I'm not married, yet, but neither of my brothers had a videographer. Neither of them wanted one and neither of my brothers or SILs regrets not having a video done.

I do NOT want a videographer. It's not just that I could live without one and don't feel like paying for it. I just do not want to be followed around by a professional videographer all day and don't want a professional video of my wedding. It's a personal choice, and I know I won't ever regret it. (I used to be a professional videographer!)

If you're on the fence, though, I'd think long and hard about it. Most people here will tell you to go for it - b/c the day goes so fast and there are things the photographer doesn't capture.

It's a personal choice. I just know I don't want one... and no one's going to change my mind.

I havent gotten married yet, but I know I as a personal choice will probably be getting a videographer. The wedding day passes so quickly, and from friends and relatives who have already had their weddings, they love their video because they were able to see things that they didnt know happened the day of. Its such a busy and emotional day that they loved having the video to watch and to see how beautiful everything was.

(which is why I will wind up breaking my budget just on photography and videography lol)

DH and I originally didn't want one b/c of the added cost. Then, sadly, my father became really sick and we both realized we needed to have it, if not for the memories with my father, but for him to remember our day. We can't wait to see it in the next few months.

had it and LOVE it!!

would have regretted it terribly if we didn't have it. you're not followed around at all (at least i wasn't)--you don't even know they're there!

if you're not sure, get it. you will get over the cost (mine was 1K!!) if you get it and don't want it, but you WON'T get over it if you don't get it and regret it.

I thought it would be a great way to cut costs to not have one.. but Im afraid I will regret it in the long run...

It wasnt worth cutting the $$ for the regret

DH was dead set against a video. Then he realized that I would be getting ready surrounded by friends and family and he wouldn't be there to see it. He also realized he wouldn't get to see the horse & carriage ride without it. Needless to say we got it. Now, the man who didn't want a video is making me nuts over how long it will take to get the final product!!

We will have one because in all the weddings I've been in and been to, the day goes by so quickly that I've missed so much - the brides missed even more!

Without a video you won't get to see yourself walk down the aisle, hear yourself say your vows, see your first dance in action, and see everything else about your wedding that makes it YOUR wedding (your guests, possibly good wishes from them, hearing the music again, etc etc.). I already know that the big day will fly by - besides my pictures, only my video will be there afterwards so that's why we definitely want one.

Also, we would like to have our children see our ceremony and relive that moment years from now. As great as pictures are and they were my #1 thing, there's just no sound etc, whereas we'd get the entire ceremony and more on video.

we weren't going to use one... someone said somethign very smart to me though...where some people don't have it and don't regret it... som people do, and no one says after they watch their wedding video, man I wish I didn't get that... so now we are looking, but for one that is pretty basic/not too expensive and who swears they will not go around to our guests and make them say something into the camera

I wasn't planning on having one at first. Then I wanted to capture the moment so my future children could see us on our wedding day. I wanted to capture our history.

I havent seen mine yet.. and I cant wait to get it - its something else to look forward too

I also might be taking it to FL, cause my grandparents who were too sick to come and my cousin who started school couldnt make it, they are excited to see it.

So glad this was brought up- I feel like Im' the only person who does NOT want a video. I'm getting a very big photo package, and I feel that will be enough for me. I've always been more of a picture person than a video person anyway. And I feel that if you have a great photographer, which I do, then that captures the essence and mood of the day, in a way that the actual reality of the video doesn't. I didn't even think about it until everyone started second guessing our choice. I don't think it's something I need. At all.

I have to agree. I am not getting a video because I really do not want one. I don't think I will regret it. I have been to some weddings where you just want to dance and have fun and there is this guy with a camera and light in your face! Try to act natural when that's going on!

We were NOT going to get one. Then I started to consider it but DH was dead-set against it.

We ending up booking a videographer RIGHT before our wedding and are both happy we did.

I agree that seeing yourself walk down the aisle (not just pics) is an incredible thing. You get to attend your own wedding!

Thank you everyone for you opinions. I'm still undecided but I am leaning towards getting it...

Still have to talk the FH into it too...

We never thought about not having one. We want one for all the reasons that have been stated already, but... my parents got married in 1979 and have tons of pics from their wedding which I treasure, but I can always remember wishing their was a video of their day. My mom was 20 years old, my dad was 23 years old, how priceless it would be to me to see and hear the mannerisms they had at that time in their life, see all the people that were there that day, hear the promises they made to each other... yada, yada, yada... In short, our reasons for wanting a video of our wedding is two fold: 1) so that we can relive the day (ex. see what was going on behind us while we were saying our vows), and 2) as a momentos for our children and our children's children (as far down the generational line as it could possibly go)... the latter I think is worth it all... simply priceless!!!

Oh... it will also be a double wedding and that certainly does not happen everyday!
