That's my goal too -- and we're getting married on the same day! How funny is that? Weight Watchers has been my savior over the years -- have you checked them out? If you have some extra money to devote to the cause, Weight Watchers + a personal trainer will guarantee that you reach your goal. Good luck!

Re: ok, someone want to tell me how to lose 30 - 40 pounds in 6 months!
Thanks. mostly yes. I actually went lower than is actually comfortable for me. I am 5'9' and i was down to 147, that is too low. I went back up to 180 at one point, but now am in the 160s.
I made a promise to myself to not buy clothes larger than a 10, so if my 10s feel tight, I smack myself back into gear so to speak

WW! There are so many helpful websites out there too. I did it for a few months and lost 30 pounds in 3 months. I also did cardio and weight training which definitely helped.
Check out www.dwlz.com - it gives so much helpful info especially when you're eating out!

It's a really amazing plan, although you have to be organized in terms of having meals planned for the week and getting exercise in every day (although it's always for less than an hour). Plus, there's a free day built in where you don't exercise and you can eat whatever you want.
It's really amazing. if you have any questions, feel free to FM me.

I lost about 50 pounds in 8 months and kept most off...3 years later i put 8 pounds back on but am back on WW again...
I guess i am biased towards WW but i LOVE the program. I couldnt ever do a diet where i had to cut foods or not eat certain things. WW lets you have whatever you want, just concentrated on portion control. The first week i lost 11 I remember...
Drink plenty of water, keep track of points and add some exercise in and it seems the pounds melt off. Good luck!

WW is supposed to be the most balanced prgram out there and then safest! I am biased because I am on WW....I know that it works if you stick with it!

I also have to agree, I lost 30 pounds in 6 months on WW. I am not as strict now as I used to be, but I still try and count points.

I am a big proponent of WW as well, but one thing I cannot stress enough: EXERCISE, EXERCISE, EXERCISE. The answer to 'how much' is based on how you feel. I go by the standard that I have to feel challenged, really pushed in every workout. Sometines that means upping the incline or speed on the treadmill, or doing an extra long workout DVD. Up to you, but the key is, if it feels too easy, it probably is. Good luck!

Why don't you agree? It is the safest and most balanced b/c it is teaching you portion control and that you can eat anything

I don't agree because although exercise and HEALTHY eating are encouraged, they're not a mandatory part of the program.
Weight Watchers teaches you to eat less, but less of what you would normally eat, not necessarily to eat better. You can reach your entire allocation of points for the day without actually getting any of the nutrients that your body needs. By reducing a food's worth to a number of points based on caloric and fat content, you don't necessarily consider the amount of sugar or sodium or cholestorol found in that food.
If you think of food in terms of fuel (and, while I get lots of enjoyment out of eating,w hen you think about it, food is just fuel for your body) then eating junk is like putting any old kind of fuel in your car. If you put, say, kerosene in your car, would you expect it to run? It might run, but will it run well.
I just don't think that weight watchers promotes a really healthy, balanced in take of protein, quality carbohydrates and fruits and veggies.

I agree. My friend was on weight watchers, and whenever she went out to dinner she would starve herself that day because she saved up Points for her big meal at night. Basically, that is the worst thing you should do!
She lost weight, but she gained it all back plus more. (of course she never exercised) I just hope that that isn't the way you girls here use WW.
Also, the sugar content on some of those WW bars are pretty high.
What I am saying is that my friend and mother-in-law just don't eat right and they don't know how or what to eat to get healthy and stay healthy.

I can totally understand that. You have to choose yourself to eat the healthier things so that you can eat more during the day, but you could in theory eat all your points in garbage food.
