Different centerpiece ideas?

Different centerpiece ideas?

Looking for centerpieces for a shower. The theme is pretty loose - girly jewelry pink chic.

Im trying to stay away from flowers since that is $$$ and this shower is probably going to cost me a fortune as is.

Anyone have something unique looking but inexpensive?

I know these are bunnies but I know you are so creative and might be able to do something else with the idea

I will see if I can find anything else...

A friend of mine made flower pens, put them in vases that she bought for $1 each and it looked so nice, then everyone took a pen home.

Re: Different centerpiece ideas?

Thanks everyone...these are great ideas but I think they are more suited for a garden themed or tea party. (I love that teacup idea especially but it wont work for this party)

Im trying to think more urban, more chic, more modern ideas. Something girly like Sex and City and that kind of thing.

Im probably making no sense but please keep the ideas coming. I need inspiration..im totally blocked on this one.

Re: Different centerpiece ideas?

Could you do something with solid colored gift bags to make them look like shopping bags? Make a logo for them. You could put gift boxes with ribbons (like Tiffany and Saks) for a shopping theme.

What about a hat box (Century 21 carries a lot at great prices) with fake pearls/jewelry hanging out of it.

Re: Different centerpiece ideas?

Thanks jenny.

I dont want to do the shopping thing. I could get the real designer shopping bags but I dont think she would really appreciate that.

My original idea was going to take christmas ornaments in pink and silver and fill vases with those along with fake pearls...but she is doing something similiar for her wedding (winter theme) so I dont want to get too close to that.

Filling a 10+ vases entirely with fake jewelry is going to cost a fortune so I cant do that (although that would look very cool).

I was thinking maybe using mini roses but cant think of a way to arrange them to look more chic than gardeny.

I was thinking of doing something like this but it might look a little bit blah.

Any other ideas really appreciated.

Re: Different centerpiece ideas?

What about the martini glasses with Gem Sugar in them:

Buy some sparkly brooches and stick them on the top of the sugar.

Re: Different centerpiece ideas?

That stuff is cool looking. I never heard of it before.

But its soooo expensive. I'd probably need a lot. I wonder if I can find it for less??

What about getting the beads from a pet supply store. You know for fish tanks? I remember them being sold in bags.

Re: Different centerpiece ideas?

what about doing a martini or a cosmo theme?
you could get martini glasses for each guest to take home with them and have a basket for the centerpiece with all of the fixins for a cosmo and tie it up with pink ribbons?

Re: Different centerpiece ideas?

and you can always look on ebay for cheaper prices......

Re: Different centerpiece ideas?

That is the reason why Im not sold on the martini glass things..the shower will probably not have an open bar. Its probably going to be a brunch with a choice of mimosa or bloody mary kind of thing. So having a martini or cosmo theme might be a little strange if I dont provide them to drink.

Re: Different centerpiece ideas?

I like the martini glasses (on sale now at michales for $10 each) and fill with pink marbles??

Sonicstef Posted:

Re: Different centerpiece ideas?

I like the marbles idea.

I wonder if I can get pink marbles?

Maybe I can put marbles at the bottom of the glass, 3 pink roses in each and some fake pearls spilling out. If I do three per table and then a bunch of votive candles - that still will be a dozen roses a table which I can afford and put together fairlly easily. Do you think its bad to use martini glasses in the centerpieces but not serve martinis?

( $10 each for a martini glass? Is that cheap? To be honest, Ive never bought them before but I thought they would be way less than that! )

$10 for a martini glass is very expensive...you can find them cheaper Stef.

Re: Different centerpiece ideas?

If you getthe BIG martini glasses, they are about $10, not for the small size ones.
You can try Wal-Mart and see if they are cheaper, but that is a decent price for the large ones.

Re: Different centerpiece ideas?

I love the look of that gem sugar - looks a lot like rock candy. Maybe you can find rock candy in pinks and reds for cheaper. Or maybe those glass rocks that are used in candle holders, plants, etc. I think it's ok to use the martini glass centerpiece if there is no open bar - particularly with the roses in them!
