Dilemma on who walks down the isle

Original post by dawnNkurt

Hello Everyone,

My Father passed away less the a year ago and I had decided I did not want the have the ceremony in a church because of the traditinal Father walks his daughter down the isle..

My FH wanted the ceremony at the church so I broke down and said ok..

My dilemma..

My parents were divorced when I was young and my mother never remarried..
My FH wants HIS father to walk me down but Im not that close to him.. I wanted my brother to walk me down but people are telling me its strange to see that...

Bad enough I know this is going to break my heart because I always dreamed of my father walking me down..

Does anyone have any suggestion?

I was thinking of in the program to put
'Walking the bride down the isle will be the brides brother (his name which is the same as my fathers) in memory of (My fathers name)

Does anyone think thats corny?

My Father passed away also, I was going to have both of my Brothers walk me down, but decided to give my Mother the honor.

I say absolutely have your brother, it will be beautiful

My father passed away when I was very young. My younger brother is walking me down the aisle. If your brother is who you want then you should have him.

I think you should def have your brother walk you down the isle and that would be really sweet to put that in the program. It's not strange for your brother to walk you down, I have seen that before with the same situation.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I personally think it is all up to you. Do not let anyone tell you that or make you feel akward regarding the person you choose. REMEMBER THIS IS YOUR DAY!!!!! My grandfather (mom's dad) passed away when my mom was 16y/o. My mom also had her brother walk her down the aisle - because that was who she was closest to. I wish you the best of luck

I think having your brother or your mother or BOTH walk you down the aisle would be the greatest way to show respect and remembrance to your father's memory..

i agree...

No, I don't think it is corny at all. My father passed away also. I am having my brother who has the same name as my father walk me down the aisle also. I think that it will be a nice way to honor him.

I think that if anyone should walk you down the aisle it should be your brother. I think it would be really weird to walk down w/ your FH's father.

I definitley think your brother should walk you down the aisle. I don't feel its right especially if your not close with your FFIL to walk you down, your family should be giving you away to them. I love the idea of your bro walking you down and what you want to put in the program. I say go for it.

I would DEFINITELY have your brother walk you down. I think it would be the most honorable and touching gesture you can do in memory of your father. And even though your father will not be there physically, i'm sure he'll be smiling down on you the entire day!

I think that your brother walking you down the aisle is the right choice. He is your family and closest to your dad.

Actually you should have anyone you feel comfortable and want to walk you down the isle ~ Your brother sounds perfect to me!! I love the program idea I think that is beautiful!

(I almost asked my brother down the isle)

Good Luck!

I think it would be wonderful for your brother to walk you down the aisle. I've been to a couple of weddings where that's been the case and they've been really touching. It should be someone form your family to give you away, and I think your brother would be the perfect choice.

If it was me I would have my brother especially if you are close. It would really be nice. I don't think it would look weird at all.
