I clicked are you insane!
But i did that bc our families have no personal boundaries whatsoever - and as a newlywed couple who has never lived together before we would have no chance in hell of surviving - and i love him waay to much.
We need a solid start
You are RIGHT! As a married couple I could never do it. As of right now, we have 6 months to go!
oooooooooo like before the wedding...
I live home now im a scrub!
You are so scrubby I am going to use you to clean my bathroom!

Re: Dilemma.........what would you do?
Yes I would and yes we did. We are currently living with my parents in the room right across the hall from them. It has its moments and can be stressful but we make it work. There is a definitive date we will be out and that is what we focus on when it gets a little rough -- that and our bank accounts!

As a married couple, no way. I wouldn't live above, below, to the right or left of either set of parents. We bought a house in the same neighborhood because we want to be close, but we are 'grown-ups' now and are doing an adult thing (getting married), so I believe it's time to be adults and live on our own.
In the midwest you get grown up real fast when you graduate from highschool. You are expected to get out and go to college or got ot work and pay your own bills.
What if you're not married? But betrothed? What if you have been given an opportunity to let someone help you? Would you?
If we weren't married and were waiting to get engaged/married, and HAD to live with one of our parents for a month or two, then maybe. I would never have gotten engaged and planned a wedding if we couldn't afford our own place, NOT with our parents. I have always believed and was raised to work for what I want....that wouldn't change now...you know?

I agree 100%. I think especially once your married you should be alone as a couple and make it work, wherever you are or whereever you have to go to do that. I don't think less of people who choose to do otherwise. I just don't understamd how you can be a newlywed with zero privacy. I want to swing from the rafters!

I agree. I mean, I don't get why people rush to get married if they can't move OUT on their own??? I just feel that people wait anywhere from 1-10 years, through the 'dating eachother' years, but can't wait another 1 or 2 until they have money to move out.....it's a mystery that will never be solved lol

:: sigh :: Lord don't I know it...........I have no idea how we do it. Between our honeymoon and a photog payment we just dropped 5700$ last week I look at my dwindling bank accounts with utter sadness!

If it were like an upstairs apartment then sure, opportunity to save up some money for a place of your own. But if it were like moving a bigger bed into my bedroom now and all then I would feel really weird.

Re: Dilemma.........what would you do?
I couldn't. But that's just me.
After college, I moved out and haven't moved back since. Being independent and learning to live on my own before even meeting FH was reaaaaaaally important to me.
Looking at it now? Well for my situation, since I haven't moved home since graduating college, I really couldn't imagine doing it after I was married. (Also, me and FH live together now...so it's especially difficult to imagine).
If what people say is correct, and the first year of marriage is really the most difficult, why compound your relationship struggles with family struggles? That would be a question I'd ask myself.
But I also understand that sometimes these things just aren't financially feasible. And in that case, I'd rather eliminate the financial stress (because finances weigh SO heavily on married couples), and move in for the temporary period of time. I wouldn't cause myself more stress by coping with newlywed life, getting settled, and being constantly worried about money.

I agree! my parents house is a zoo!! i could never live there just to save money. it's funny because before I bought my house... I was looking at houses a town over from my parents... then I realized that if I was only 5 mins away they would be at my house all the time! I live 15-20 mins away now and it is perfect! i love the privacy and it is close enough to see my family when I want. no unexpected guests ever

I understand and agree with everything you have just said.
Isn't it amazing how a relationship changes when you get engaged?
I haven't gone into the marriage phase yet, obviously, but I wonder what that holds for me.
I hope I can cope without vodka or xanax ( my 2 saviors in all large crisis)
