my father and sister live in the same house and he said you do. so he's paying for her satellite (why i don't know it's not like she doesn't work) but i would think that there is a way for them to only have 1 dish and yet be able to watch different channels on their different tv's.

Re: direct tv users with multiple tv's
1 dish is all you need for a house. In fact, a dish can serve several houses (not that the satellite companies do this)

Your dad is correct. You need to have a separate receiver in order to watch two different channels on two different TV's. You do not need to have a second dish though. We had 2 different receivers and only 1 dish and could watch different channels. We now have 2 dishes though but that is just to get a zillion more channels than we already have!

Re: direct tv users with multiple tv's
sorry girls i was mistaken, they have 1 dish and 2 receivers.
i think he got mixed up when they first got the service and said '2 satellites' instead of '2 receivers'.
