the entire wedding party, my parents and our OOT guests are all staying at the same hotel. the makeup artists, hair stylists, flowers and limos have all been arranged to arrive at the hotel the morning of. the rehearsal dinner is at a restaurant steps away for the night before.
5 days from the wedding the hotel just called to nonchalantly tell me that renovations caused flooding in the entire hotel and they cannot honor our reservations.
WHAT?!?????????????????????????
what the eff am i supposed to do now????????????????????????????
i have a pile of stuff to get to at work before I take off Wednesday but now I have to drop everything to deal with this.

I am sure everything will work out. Make some phone calls to see if anyone recommends another hotel.

Re: DISASTER STRIKES
Ohh! That's horrible! I would def see if they could recommend someone. I don't know what else you can do but call around and see if anyone can accommodate you. I would also have someone at the hotel help you too bc i'm sure certain people booked certain kinds of rooms, smoking, non, king bed, double. See if they can give you a print out or they need to start making some phone calls!

Re: DISASTER STRIKES
That's awful! Your hotel must have a contingency plan. 'Nonchalant' or not, you call them up and raise hell and see what they can do for you!
Good luck.

Re: DISASTER STRIKES
That is ridiculous! I'm so sorry for you. The hotel should absolutely be doing the work and placing your guest in a nearby hotels and providing a shuttle if need be at their cost. Can you get FH involved to work this out with them?

Re: DISASTER STRIKES
OMG!! I would FLIP!!! They should be BENDING OVER BACKWARDS TO ACCOMODATE YOU a WEEK BEFORE YOUR WEDDING!
We're talking:
discounted rates at another chain FREE shuttle buses to make up for the additional travel COMPED rooms for you and your FAMILY for the inconvenience and free breakfast at the TIME OF YOUR CHOOSING for your guests (none of this must be down by 9am crap).
Plus whatever else they were giving you.
This isn't something they're telling you about 2 months ahead of time (that would be bad enough!). This is FIVE DAYS BEFORE! UNACCEPTABLE!!!!!!!!!! Non-chalant my AZZ!!
GO RAISE SOME HELL!
What chain is this??? Is it a chain? Go as high as you have to to get satisfied! Go Bridezilla on them... you have EVERY right!!!!

I would ask the hotel to make new reservations for everyone at another hotel.

Re: DISASTER STRIKES
THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT~!!!
the hotel is the Sheraton in Flushing, Queens. Who chose that hotel because people can take the subway into the city and it's a half hour ride to jericho terrace so we thought it was the perfect midpoint location. they are now offering to transfer us to Win Gate Inns a few blocks away.
'i just need to talk to you about a LITTLE problem we have.'
i was so shocked and upset i told her i had to call her back because if i continued i might start cursing uncontrollably.
we have guests arriving as early as tomorrow night.
i want to throw up myself

Re: DISASTER STRIKES
my FH thinks i'm being a bridezilla so i am this close to killing him too.
my coworker thinks i should call some news channels.
sarah - I agree with you 100%~!! i am sooo upset right now i can't even call and make any demands yet because i can't talk straight. one of my BMs is trying to get through to them and they are not even picking up their phones now.

Re: DISASTER STRIKES
There is a Ramada hotel which is kind close to the Sheraton in Flushing. It is in Corona queens, across the street from Shea Stadium. It is in walking distance of the 7 train Willets Pt stop, which is only one stop away from Main Street. If you are looking for a hotel near the subway I highly recommend this one. I've been here many times to spend the night, and have also eaten in their italian restaurant - The Pine.
If your more comfortable having your guests take the LIRR from queens into the city, you can always have them stay at the Ramada on northern blvd up in bayside.
Im so sorry this happened to you!!!!

Re: DISASTER STRIKES
deinitely Sheraton Corporate.
THEN call the NEWS, if you want! One of those 'Shame on You' stories. If you have TIME for that the week of your wedding! This is the stuff they would love... a BRIDE with THIS headache?!!?
That's a lesser hotel, correct?
They need to UPGRADE you... not DOWNGRADE!
If you go to a hotel, and there's a leak in your hotel, do they switch you to a CRAPPIER room? No... they switch you to an EQUAL or BETTER room. This is THAT situation on a GRANDER scale.
And the fact that they're not ANSWERING the phone now!?!?! Wow... the word 'UNACCEPTABLE' is POWERFUL. Use it over and over and over again.
