so... im a picture freak.... is it tacky to do the disposable camera thing at each table?? that way by the time the night is over, you will have some good candid and fun shots. what do you think??

Re: disposable cameras
It's all up to you. Personally, from working so many weddings I can say that not many people use the cameras. If they do, they are all taking the same pics.....first dance, cutting the cake, garter/BOK toss.....after a while you are looking at the same pictures AND paying for them to be developed. Also think about intoxicated guests...do you really want to develop a roll and see FH's best man doing stupid stuff? lol
Photographers capture almost every moment....and what they miss, the videographers get anyway. I am not doing cameras because of this.

Re: disposable cameras
i never thought of the duplicate pictures... it makes sense... thanks!
I did them for my e-party as a trial for the wedding and it worked out great. I had a lot of pics from my friends tables and ones from my family that my dad didnt get. As for duplicates, we did get some but it was good to look at the different angles and figure out which was the best to put in my album.
I am totally doing this for the wedding. I will prolly do a scavenger hunt.

Re: disposable cameras
I want to have a couple at each table at the reception hall. I don't know if people will take pics. I hope they will because I would love the get them developed the next day and look but if they don't they aren't too much money so I don't feel bad buying them.

Re: disposable cameras
Honestly its not worth it
They have wedding cameras and a few of my friends did it, and we were going to do it until we got their developed
some photos dont turn out and you have more pictures of peoples butts then you can count.
im not going by one wedding, im going by multiples
However, the tables who had mature adults did take some nice photos around the table
If you are set on it I would instead suggest doing it for the family tables

Re: disposable cameras
For example: I was at a wedding a couple of weeks ago and there were cameras on the table...I was the ONLY person at our table that took pics. Those cameras don't have zoom so you can't get good shots of anything..especially not indoors. Maybe if you are outdoors for CH or your reception.

Re: disposable cameras
we were gonna do it but my last 2 friends weddings she got 4 out of 20 cameras back and the pics she got were all 'crappy' from what she said. So we decided not to plus its gonna save $$

Re: disposable cameras
I always said that I would put the camera on the tables but the more I think of it the more I realize that it's a waste. Most people won't use them and (knowing a lot of my friends) the cameras will end up being used to take pics in the bathrooms!
Also, I have a feeling most of my guests will be using them to take pics of us (umm...that's why we're paying a fortune for a photographer! ) instead of taking pictures of eachother.

Re: disposable cameras
We're going to do blank CD's on the tables at each placesetting asking that those with digital cameras copy the pics onto the cd's and mail them back to us.
One way to get more people involved is to do some sort of game out the picture taking thing. Put hints on the table and make it a game - like - for every picture of someone sneezing - you get a point...and the person with the most points at the end of the night gets to take the centerpiece. Just a cute idea I read...

Re: disposable cameras
One alternative idea that I saw on this site was to pass out blank CD's with an envelope with a little poem on it.
It said something to the effect of sending your digital pictures back to the bride and groom.
I thought this was an excellent idea because most people have digital cameras and the quality of those photos would be way better than the disposable. Plus, cd's are really cheap and you can choose which to print.

Re: disposable cameras
youll get alot of pics of genitalia...lol atleast if my drunken friends and fam were at your party
I like the idea of having a few around... I wouldnt go nuts, but grab a few what could it hurt? they get lost or take? youre out $30... not so bad.... i say go for it! plus you may have some great blackmail shots to use at a later date!!!

Re: disposable cameras
im not-- i heard like 70% of the pictures are either blank or of nothing/ stupid...and the rest apparently arent anything to frame
but you never know, stats aren't always right!

Re: disposable cameras
My friend got some good ones at her wedding. The photographer captures beautiful moments to remember your guest are going to capture other things going on. I am going to put a few out I think its cute.
