divorced parents

divorced parents

I knew I would be in this situation and I'm sure I'm not alone. I'm having my reall dad walk me down the isle because I think it would be disrespectful otherwise and I am still close to him. My stepfather has done everything for me-always and never wants anything in return. I figured I'd do the father /daughter dance with him but my real dad expects us to do that also. Is it mean to tell him I'm dancing with my stepfather instead?

I think its your decision....if you explain to your father how he is being honored and that you would also like to honor your step father....it might help him understand

There are other alternatives you can have them both walk you down the aisle and dance with them both....

Im sure its a diificult situation, but whatever you decide will be right!

HTH, Good luck!

I went to a wedding where the bride walked down the isle with her father, and then had a father daughter dance with her father and stepfather.

why not do both, with both of them? Have one walk you half way down the aisle, then have the other walk you the other half. Then, dance the first part of your song w/one, then the other for the 2nd half! Try not to let the divorce stuff weigh you down! Believe me, I know it's hard, but there have to be ways around it, right?

I like the idea of dancing half the song with one person and the ohter half of the song with the other.

I think I would dance with both of them. I would have my dad walk me down the aisle and i would still dance with him but i would also honor your stepfather by dancing with him too. Like for example you can use a song like Through the Years or something along those lines.

i agree. i'm walking down the aisle with my real dad and then most likely doing 2 dances with 2 different songs.

also...im having my real mom walk down the aisle alone...stop at the first pew and then when my dad and i get there she will join us and give me away also/together w/my dad.

What about dancing with them both? I have been to a wedding where hte bride dances with her mom and dad and then the groom dances with just his mom. Work it how it feels comfortable to you.

why dont you dance with both of them ~ father first then stepdad...

My parents are divorced (I currently dont talk to my biological mom and stepdad) but I am dancing with my Dad & since my stepmom has been so supportive (i am not her blook daughter ~ she has treated me like her real daughter and been there through everything) so I am surprising her with a special song...

OMG, those songs are beautiful! I am thinking about doing a special dance with my mother as well but I'm not sure yet. I think I may get to emotional. lol

Im having both of them walk me down the aisle on each arm. My real dad will pull the veil back and I'll give them both a kiss. I havent thought about the dance part yet...

I would dance with both of them. Have your real dad walk you down the aisle and dance with both of them-if you only danced with your stepfather I really think your dads feelings would be hurt
