DIY Invitations Question
I'm formatting my wedding invitations and enclosures in MS Word. I have three questions:1. Does anyone know where I can find free fonts I can upload to Word?
2. Does anyone know where I can find free monogram templates?
3. Should I just use Photoshop?
TIA!

Re: DIY Invitations Question
I think I used font101, majority are free.I recommend using help in word to advise you about downloads of new fonts.
You will probably be best making your own template in photoshop.
You can also go on etsy and someone can design one for you for a small charge and send you the pdf file.

DIY Invitations Question
I want to do pocketfold invitations, so do you think the Etsy vendor will be able to create something if I give him/her the dimensions of the invitation and enclosures?

Re: DIY Invitations Question
Yes. Some vendors will just do pdf files. Also, I priced pocketfolds and some prices are more doing DIY than having a vendor printing them. Also, if you want the shimmery paper, a home printer is not recommended.I just started my invitation process. I am using Sweet Stuff designs (recommended by a bride on here).
Try Invitations by Emily on etsy recommended by a couple of brides and KC1031 (Kristen-she was at our table at the bridal shower). I choose not to use her because she didn't print on envelopes.
These were the two best priced vendors I found. I decided to just do a layered invitation on shimmer paper but they both have pocketfolds available at reasonable prices.

DIY Invitations Question
Thanks for the advice! I've been using cardsandpockets.com. You can totally DIY the invites or you can ask them to mount the invitations and/or print the invitations, both for fees. I have zero intention of getting a paper cutter and doing them by hand.Cards and Pockets have Google Doc templates I've been experimenting with, but I can't get a good sense of the font colors like I can on Word and I'm limited to Google's fonts. I'll check out the Etsy vendor!

DIY Invitations Question
I used cards and pockets also. I sent them aPDF of the design I wanted and the dimensions of each card. They came out great. As for the actual design, one of the groomsmen did it on photoshop for me. They came out beautiful, and cards and pockets does a great job printing!

Re: DIY Invitations Question
I looked into cardsandpockets also, and the cost adds up. You might be better just going with a vendor. Making templates is harder than expected and at this point I have no patience.Good luck.

Good luck.
I'm sorry it didn't work out for you, but I got everything for less than 4 dollars an invite!

DIY Invitations Question
I agree with sandr325 the cost of DIY can add up quickly but it also depends on how much your willing to spend.I dedcided to buy the diy kits, i havent printed yet but have definetly thought about contacting an etsy vendor as i have seen many brides post about looking for fonts and the layout not coming out the way they expected.

DIY Invitations Question
The whole point of going the DIY route was to avoid spending a ton of $ on invitations which, in my opinion, people just toss. But when I take into account the fact that I want someone else to do the printing ($), I want pocketfolds ($$), and I want the belly band tchotchkes on the front of the invites ($$$), it looks like I'm going to be spending $3-$4 an invite anyway.
This is not turning out how I planned :(

Sorry. I looked into doing DIY also and the costs added up quickly. Also, I didn't want to fuss with the layout of the invitation. This is why I went from pocketfolds to a layered invitation and I am including church and reception information on the same card.
I did get good quotes for pocketfolds at a little over $4 each but I just couldn't justify the cost. I would rather put the money into something else.

Talk to Vivian at Lavender Letter. She is in Dix Hills. Perhaps you can toss some idea around to be more budget friendly.
