DIY questions

Are any of you ladies making your own invitations? I'm trying to decide. I'm going to buy some items after work just to play around with it. Any advice? I'm feeling crafty and looking to cut corners and save some money. Thanks!

DIY questions - Long Island Weddings

I did not make my invitations, but I did make the enclosures and embellishments. I think as long as you practice making them to make sure you can do it, easily, and cost effectively then you're good to go! Sometimes I take on projects but then I do the math and realize I'm only saving like $5 by making it myself lol

Re: DIY questions

Some of my friends have gone this route, and they turned out great! I tried a crack at it myself, but unfortunately I'm only crafty in my thoughts lol Heres a link that I found with a tutorial on how to make pocketful invites.

You can then print the inserts at your local printer, and maybe buy a template from etsy to make it look snazzy. :) Good luck!

DIY questions - Long Island Weddings

Thanks for the info ladies. I want to be crafty, but it always looks so much better in my head than when executed. I think after looking around a few craft stores, I'm going to just stick to doing small things for the day of. haha.

DIY questions - Long Island Weddings

I made mine- I think I have pics in my albums of them... I bought a pocketfold PDF from hesawsparks on etsy, ordered pocketfolds for .80 each on cardsnadpockets.com and had the etsy owner match the ink color to the pocketfold, ordered aspire petallics white colored metallic paper on thepapermillstore.com for $40 for 350 sheets and matching envelopes for even cheaper on that site, and printed 4 rsvps per sheet, 2 5x7 invites per sheet, 3 hotel cards per sheet, and 3 reception cards per sheet. I printed at my old college (snuck into one of the labs that has colored laser printers hehe), but you can print at home if you have a laser printer. If not, you can go to kinkos or minutemanpress and have them print for you. Then, I cut with my FMIL's paper cutter, assembled the pocketfolds, and used glue dots from michaels to attach the invite to the inside of the pocketfold.

I honestly thought it wasn't bad at all, and I'm NOT a crafty person at all. I have never even made a scrapbook lol... I started them like 9 months out, and since you have plenty of time, if you start now you can take your time with it and really enjoy it I think.

I spent like $2 and change for the entire project including postage (66c. on the outside and RSVP postage), for what would have cost over $8/invite for something similar

I'm doing our invitations myself using Brides/gartner studios invitations I bought at Michaels. This is a HUGE cost savings, I even used 40% off coupons to save more!

DIY questions

I'm making my own pocket to invitations. I designed them in Photoshop and am printing them at my moms. I got my paper from cards and pockets. It's really not that difficult you should give it a shot.

yes we were going to do them by hand from michaels, but between the cost of ink & the 'mess ups', we figured this was cheaper in the long run!

DIY questions - Long Island Weddings

We bought ours at AC Moore and will be modifying the invite wording on the website and print them at home. The invites cost $30 for 100 because we had 2 55% off coupons and they come 50 to a box. They come with RSVP cards, envelopes, invites and invite envelopes.

Good Luck
