We just met with our first DJ and we were given a quote of $1200 for the ceremony, cocktail hour, and the reception. No frills just regular lighting and music of our choice. Does this seem like a good deal? (FI knows the MC) Any help would be appreciated as I don't know what an average price is. TIA!

Re: DJ $1200???
There are two company's i know one of which is the dj i booked that can go 1k or less with even two people and basic lights and no giveaways. Check out High Energy Entertainment (who i booked with) and FM Entertainment.
It doesn't sound that off though but if u want to save another 200 then try those guys out.

Re: DJ $1200???
I'm paying almost $1800 for 1 DJ, 1 MC, a light show, a plasma tv w/ photo montage....it's a 4 hour reception and one hour for the CH...ugh and supposedly I got double discounts for being a returning customer AND it was a house vendor

Re: DJ $1200???
I think if you have both a DJ and an MC, it is pretty reasonable.
We are having only a DJ (same no frills service), and we're paying $800ish.... the MC must tack on at least another 300-500.....

That seems a little high. You should check out FM Entertainment. They are a vendor on here. Their prices are less.

Re: DJ $1200???
In my opinion that is a little high with no frills. I am having a friend dj ours though so I am getting a great deal for the dj and mc, but another placed called DJ Joey quoted me at $900 for dj and MC. So I think you can find something out there for a little less.

Re: DJ $1200???
My FH is an events manager for EJ the DJ and he says it's a fair price, but he says what's more important is that you're comfortable with the DJ and the MC. Have you seen any demos?

Re: DJ $1200???
i don't know much about DJ's, other than trying to find the best price for the money, i'm letting my fh do most of the work on this vendor.
with the $1200 quote- it is a mc & dj for ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. the owner knocked $300 off the price as we know his partner.
next week we will be going to see another company, which my fi's friend still works for. i appreciate all of your comments, as they are very helpful.

Re: DJ $1200???
it seems a bit high to me with no frills. We're paying $900 for 1 DJ, 1 MC, 5 hours of music plus a plasma screen.
