Ok soo I met with Genesis last night... During the meeting I loved everything - they have a great variety of things u can do with ur reception (Paparazzi Corner, Dunkin Donuts Corner, photobooth, etc.) and have the most up-to-date technology. However, when we got to the end of the meeting I was incredibly disappointed. The price was in between quotes I got at Variety and After Hours, which I can deal with - that was no big deal. However, when he gave me the quote he told me that if we paid cash, he will take off the tax - I didn't call him out on it but I know that DJs cannot charge tax (& I hope most of you ladies know that too!)... I really liked them and was really upset when he said that bc I knew it was a lie. Then he asked who else I was going to see and rolled his eyes and scoffed at the other places I already saw or am going to see. That pissed me off bc I really like the other DJs we went to see; when each of them asked what other DJs we were going to see, they all responded with 'they're all great companies & obviously we hope u book with us, but we wish u luck no matter who u go with' - thats how a professional DJ company should act towards other companies, so I was very turned off by that. Between the whole tax thing and the standoffish way he acted toward other companies, FH and I took them out of the running immediately after we walked out of there. I'm sure those of you have already booked with them or are SC or Floral Terrace brides are fine, but just wanted the rest of u ladies who are still looking for a DJ know to be wary.

DB2013 - I did not see Bravura, but Variety is awesome! They were very professional and friendly and well-priced for what we are looking for... Very quick getting back to you when u call or e-mail them also. We met with Tom, but would be using MC Danny if we book with them - both of them are incredible tho!!!

LI Sound is up tonight - I've heard great things and am really looking forward to that appointment!!!

Thanks for that info! I called Genesis for the first time about two days ago and still have yet to hear back from them. I'm actually calling Variety again tonight to ask a few questions.

Also, thank you for the tax info! I did not know this and it is certainly a good piece of information to know.

Hope LI sound goes well tonight. I actually got a postcard from them tonight.

FH & I met with LI Sound on Tuesday night....OMG they blew us away!!!

We met with Vito who was phenomenal! He was funny, energetic, very knowledgeable, and professional. Their showroom is incredible and it really lets u get a feeling for how ur party is gonna look and sound... We did not get that feeling anywhere else and it was soo impressive to see a DJ put on that kind of performance and have that beautiful of a showroom just for an appointment to show u what u could possibly get! They had soo many possible options for your wedding. The photo booth they have is one of the most fun booths I've ever been in and its big enough for a bunch of people to go in! FH and I were so excited by all they showed us that we are now even looking into adding options we originally weren't going to!

We have one more DJ to go see after the new year and then we will discuss our options, but LI Sound is definitely at the top right now!

DJ companies are not allowed to charge tax on services, but extras like photo booth, photo favors or any other item you get something back are taxable because you receive a product in return. I think you might have misunderstood what they meant. They were going to charge tax on those products but since since we payed in cash the tax was waived and we saved a few bucks that way. My Husband and I just got married on New years eve and we had Genesis Events for our dj/entertainment they were amazing from start to finish. We have a tough group to please and It says a lot when you have every different age group on the dance floor, not just for a few songs.. EVERY SONG -- Fabio has an amazing personality and had everyone laughing through out the whole night. I feel music is the back bone of the party-- My guest are still ranting and raving over how great Genesis was. Very easy to work with.. I messed up on the paperwork and it was like it was nothing they fixed everything and were sooo great!!!!!! I have nothing but amazing feedback for this vendor and i highly recommend them (and tax free-- goes a long way when planning a wedding)
