I know who DJ A is and alot of 09ners have booked them. Trust me when I say they are great!!! I have seen then live and I will see them again next month at my friends wedding. I would go for DJ A!!!!
I'm all about saving money , esp if its for the same thing. When it comes to a DJ I think it def. depends on personality because that it what your going to have to deal with and what is going to set the tone for your wedding. From what you said, it seems like DJ A is just as good as DJ B, they just didn't do the whole 'showcase' part. Honestly, I'd call them up and tell them your concerns, maybe they'll be having a showcase at a reception hall soon and tell you to come by to see them in action!

i think that maybe dj seems to be a good choice, its a lot cheaper...maybe you can go see dj a at an event they are having
