DJ or Band???

DJ or Band???

Hi!

I am trying to decide between a DJ and Band. Ultimately, I think I would like to go with a band, but I don't know how the price of bands compares to DJs. Although, I think it is a few thousand higher. I was quoted for a band at $4500, but think I can probably get a DJ for around $2500 (mc included). Does that sound about right to you? Can you throw out some average prices of DJs?

Thank you!!!!

I don't know what the average is...but I'm spending quite a bit with my DJ. Because... we have the DJ (so we have original music) and we added a pianist for the cocktail hour...and percussionist, saxaphone player and guitar for the entire reception. My DJ also has a lighting business so he's doing our uplighting as well!!! We're paying MORE than a band costs...but we're getting a LOT!!! There are plenty of options out there....

2500 seems a little high for just a dj and mc, we're paying 2300 for the dj, mc, jazz guitarist for cocktail hour, and uplighting for around the room.

2500 is about right depending on what you are getting. we are probably going with a band because FH and his dad rally want a band.

I agree with the other girls that 2500 for just a DJ/MC is high... You can def get a lot more for that price. If your stuck between the two you can always do something along the lines of a live cocktail hour, with a percussionist or pianist or steel drums.

I am paying $1,600 for a DJ & MC and a dinner singer. Oh and that includes an extra hour on the reception. I might add uplighting, which will bring the bill up to about $2,400.

We are paying $3000. That's for ceremony, cocktail hour and party... I also added steel drums, the TV's with the pictures, and up lighting.... I also wanted the next step up in lighting and he threw that it... IM getting dj/mc/light tech.

The basic package (DJ & MC) with Body Rock was $1700. They have a lot of add-ons like a percussionist which we might do! Good luck!

I am paying $1000 for a DJ and the cheapest I have heard of for a band starts at $6000. We are going with a DJ because that is more our taste and we can justify spending so much on one single vendor.

i think that DJ price sounds a little bit high, but that band price seems normal depending on how many people are in the band!

I lovveeee my DJ- Body ROck. We're getting a dj/mc team for 1500. I like the idea of a DJ because they can play ANY song!

I spent less than that on a DJ/MC combo.
