DJ Packages...

Ladies I need your help!!!

For girls who have booked their DJ, if you don't mind answering, How much more or less are you spending on your DJ Package? For girls who haven't, how much did you budget for DJ?

I'm torn btwn 2 DJ's. One is a preferred vendor for my hall but their prices are a lil on the high side. The other DJ is not a preferred vendor but is offering me a similar package, but less $$. I don't know what to do. I've heard great things about both, but the preferred vendor has more advantage to use the plasmas at my hall but is that enough to book them?? Help! What would you do??

If the packages are similar and you like them both the same I would go with the one that is less money.

The other DJ could probably bring in plasmas to use so I would think the fact that the house DJ can use the halls plasma would not make much a difference.

Yea your right Mara! The 2nd option is also giving us the option of choosing who we would like as the DJ and MC, based on videos of them performing and the owners recommendation too. And if we wanted to hear them perform b/f booking, they offered to do a mini showcase for us with both in action. The preferred vendor said they couldn't do that and we wouldn't know who our DJ and MC would be until 3-4 months b/f the party which gets me a lil nervous.

If the packages are similar and you feel comfortable with either DJ then I would prob go with the cheaper one.

If you want to use the house vendor maybe try telling them you got quoted less for the same thing... they may come down in price.

One thing that alot of people do not realize is just because they are a recommended vendor does not mean they are better or will do a better job at the venue.

Basically all it means is that they paid the venue a particular sum of money to be on the list. With that being said I am sure a vendor would not keep a preferred vendor that people complain to them.

Although there is one florist on my venue's preferred list that I have no idea why it is there. The florist has a F rating in the Better Business Bureau!

I'd go with the cheaper one that you like better!!

I'm assuming you costed in the cost to feed the outside DJ, but I wouldn't let that sway my decision.

Actually they told me they don't eat at events. They will eat during the cocktail hour but they don't eat a main meal. So I wouldn't have to worry about that.

Would you mind telling us who the 2 DJ's are? I'm only asking cause I have read tons of reviews on DJ's on the weddingwire and that helped in making my decision.

Thats interesting!! I never even thought to ask that question of the vendors, I just assumed that we HAD to pay for their meals. thanks for that info!!

Very true but the bright side is they usually eat free! lol

but thats insane that the florist had such a bad BBB rating and they still list them as a preferred vendor!

Re: DJ Packages...

we looked at 2 DJ's which were both similar in prices

We got:
4 hr MC & DJ
2- 50 inch TVs
Zap shots throughout the night

for $2195

ETA: PS I would check with the RH but I think you do have to pay for them to eat

Re: DJ Packages...

Now i do agree with Mara in the whole 'prefered' vendor idea is pretty much BS.....i will make one exception. The house DJ at the Sand Castle has the ability to plug directly into the sound system and lighting/video systems. They would be able to do things that other DJs wouldnt....and is one reason why i'm most likely going to book with them. I was THRILLED when i heard that they had the abililty to lower the volume around the tables and have the music centered on the dance floor....so you can actually talk and hear your friends if your not dancing!

As long as your choice of DJs is equal in what they are able to do at the venue...then i would say to go with the cheaper one. But, for the most part....you get what you pay for.

Good luck!
