DJ's...what to ask

DJ's...what to ask

I was wondering what should FI & I be asking when we see DJ's. I went to see a DJ this afternoon and had no clue what I should be asking. Plus she showed me some videos on past weddings they did and that was it.....I think she was new too because she really didn't offer any input on what they do....or is this normal? I'm confused.....

Ask about their back-up equipment.

Find out how long they have been in business (then search The Bride's Review).

Ask when you will get to meet the MC for your wedding.

Find out if you can have the name of the MC and the DJ in your contract.

Ask if they have back up staff in case one of their DJs or MCs becomes ill.

Im sure I am leaving a lot out - but those are the questions we asked once we heard their speech and saw the video. I hope that helps.

We are getting a band, but some of the questions for DJs are the same.-- Some questions we asked were --

1) How long will you be playing? --And does that include set up and breakdown time?
How long does it take to set up and breakdown?

2) Do you have a song list we can chose from?

3) Will you play requests from guests

4) How do you respond to guests who request songs that are on the 'do not play list'

5) How do you dress?

6) Volume control?

7) Do you take breaks?

And then questions regarding payment -- deposit amount, when is full payment due, etc....
