#1) does anyone know if the DMV is open on friday in garden city?
#2) i still have a NY DL because there is a chance i could be back b/c of an office we have in NJ, well today I LOST MY License...AND my passport cannot be used (also havent renewed that beacuse i am waiting until i change my name and it is 2 years expired TODAY!
do you think that A) because i havent filed a tax rtn in NY and B) beause my pay stub mentions MD tax withholding that i will have a probelm??

Do you have anything to prove your NY address? Was it still at a parents maybe? If you just need a new one and it can be mailed to the address that was on it I don't think you need anything. But I don't know for sure... Good luck!

i can apply for a duplicate online, but it takes approxc 4 weeks and says all over the place if you drive without having the license in hand you can get a ticket.
i have my expired passport and REALLY OLD expired license for proof that i am who i say i am....i just dont want to get in trouble for it at all....but to change to a MD one, you need to have one to turn in anyway or you have to take more tests!!

Mom says she thinks a social security card and/or birth certificate will work for proof of who you are. and she thinks they are open on Friday but not sure.

thank yoU!!! i figure that if they arent open on friday THEN i will do it online and wait the 4 weeks and have my mom send it down to me.
i just read on thier website all of the approved documents and i have enough to do it...and there are many topics about being out of state, so if questioned i will just say that my job could bring me back to NY.

well i just read online that NYS doesnt req you to be a resident if you have a NYS DL and that the DMV WILL NOT determine if you are a resident or not.

but i guess if you dont have to be a resident, then you dont have to be a resident end of story....and it says that the dmv doesnt enforce the laws
