DMV - Original Marriage License

I went to the DMV in Levittown today to change my name on my driver's license and registration. I had brought copies of my marriage license.

The woman asked if I had the original marriage license. I told her that I had copies. She said that I have to bring the original marriage license. They will not take it, but they have to see it.

So, I got all the paperwork and have to go back another day.

What a pain!!!

Just wanted to pass along this information. I don't know if this is the policy at all DMV offices.

thats the policy everywhere u can't take a photocopy
u need one with the raised seal
i ordered 10 duplicates that i could give out in may

Yea alot of places like SS and DMV want to see an original and even my job. They will give it back to you but just want to see the seal part.

Only the DMV and SS needed my original so far. Bank didn't even look at it. Car loan and student loans are taking copies. Credit cards are done over the phone.
