Do any of you have TOTALLY different taste when it comes to decorating

Do any of you have TOTALLY different taste when it comes to decorating

than your FH? How are you handling this? My taste is French Country, and FH does not like this style. Have any of your FH given you full reign over decorating? How much have you had to compromise your style to come to an 'agreement' on how your homes are (or will be) decorated ?

fh leaves it mostly up to me, as long as i do not make it ultra feminine....
the bedroom and living room and his bathroom he wants input on, but the kitchen, dining room, my bathroom, and den I have most control over

we luckily have pretty similar taste, so it's not a problem....except that he would rather decorate with action figures and video games, while i'm more of a waterford and lenox type of decorator

my FI is completely modern when it comes to decorating taste, and i love old looking pieces that have an antiqued look- we are total opposites but most of the time we compromise- FI wants no flowers on bed linens thats really all he is completely against.

Our decorating tastes were very different, Dh had a typical bachelor pad, a bed in a bag uglier than sin on his bed, and crap everywhere, plastic containers to hold everything, just crap. When we moved in together , he let me decorate how I wanted, but the one thing he wouldnt let me part with was his coffee table..it looked like cocaine table from the 70's, glass table with black formica around it, with GOLD rim...oh gosh it was scary..I finally persuaded him to part with that ugly thing..now he lest me decorate pretty much everything.....we still have a few things to get rid of, but until we buy a house, it will have to stay.

We are like the same person it is sicking...I would trust him to pick out anything and i if is see something i don't hesitate or worry he wouldn't like it

We have a lot of similarities - darker woods, straight lines, solid colors. As well as differences - he like very neutral/earthy colors while I like bright bold retro type colors. We battle it out, make compromises and sometimes even agree on things It works out and our apt looks nice (IMO )
