We are thinking about putting a camera on each table but do the guests really take pictures with them?

I think so - similar situation for my sisters sweet 16 - every camera was used, & when I went to a wedding this past october - I made sure to use the camera.

depends, some people will tell you hardly any of them...I did this for my e-party and most of the cameras were all used, there were like 4 cameras that had just a few pictures left on them but we did get alot of pictures out of the table cameras and good ones too

Re: Do guests really use the table cameras?
Yes, they do!! We had table cameras and included a list of about 5 things to get them started. Then they just took it from there!! We've got some great candids of our guests. Remember, your photographer is mainly there to take pics of the B&G. Besides, my mom had the table cameras developed right away and I was able to see them when I got back from my HM, I had a whole album to look at before my proofs were ready!!

Re: Do guests really use the table cameras?
honestly the weddings that i have been to with table cameras---no one at the table even bothered to take more than 2 or 3 pics.
only once in awhle will you find someone say they thought it was a great idea after getting the pics back. most of the time, ppl are drunk and take weird pics--or the cameras get handed off to kids and they just take pics of themselves and each other.
a friend of mine said someone got trashed so bad at her wedding--they went into the bathroom and took a pic of the who-ha.

i wouldn't count on them being used but they might...
At my shower we had them and the kids wound up taking them and taking pics. They were actually adorable pics! Every adult they snapped a picture of is smiling so much and the perpective on all of the pictures is hilarious! Everyone looks like giants. LOL

Some people use them - we put them on every table and I think about 1/2 of them were used and we finished the rest off at the after party the next day at my mom's house
Everyone kept saying stop taking pictures and I said if you used them at the wedding I wouldn't have all of this film :)

Re: Do guests really use the table cameras?
I am planning on gettting them. I am going to attach the camera scavenger hunt. I am hoping this will prompt people to use the cameras more.
I think table cameras are a waste. I'm making up cards with my e-mail and people can e-mail me pics. Or I might give out blank Cd's and leave directions to burn pics on the disc and people can mail the CD's to us, of course with a self addressed stamped envelope. I got this idea from a bride on here. Thanks

I had them and they were a complete waste of money. I had much more sucess when everyone emailed me their own pictures of the day. Just my experience

that's how I feel about them. They are cute, but really not needed a kinda expensive for only a handfull of good shots.

I think it all depends on the guests. At my best friends wedding she had them; I collected them and had them printed up and an album waiting for her when they got home from their honeymoon. It was great.

I feel like many guest will have their own digital cameras to take pics with, so table camera are kinda pointless IMO

Re: Do guests really use the table cameras?
At FBIL's wedding last year they had table cameras - and people used them, but they ended up get twice as many pics emailed to them from friends and family most of which were the same exact pics taken with the table cameras.
So, if they're there - they will be used, but if they're not there you'll get a lot of pictures anyways. We're going to save the $$ and not get table cameras

Yes! But most of them forgot to put the flash on!

Re: Do guests really use the table cameras?
From what I've seen at other weddings. They do get used, but used without flash (because people forget to put it on), taken from too far way, or a bunch of goofy pictures of just a few hams. At my cousins wedding one table camera was used entirely on 3 women doing Charlie's Angels poses. One or two might be funny but a roll of 24 was aggravating. For that reason alone, I'm not using them. That's what I pay a photographer for. But you know your family and friends, so do you think they are responsible enough to trust with a rather expensive task? If so, go for it.

Re: Do guests really use the table cameras?
Mine were used. I did have the MC make an annoucement, and I made stickers for the cameras with a poem on the. The only problem I had was... that one was left with about 5 pics remaining and one went home with a guest.

Re: Do guests really use the table cameras?
A friend of mine told me that I HAVE to do table cameras. He said they were the funniest pictures he's ever seen and they caught so many things he missed. I guess it really depends on your crowd though.

Re: Do guests really use the table cameras?
In my experience, you end up having a ton of cameras with pictures left untaken, so its a waste of film and money to develop. You will have so many proofs from you photographer you won't know what to do. I also had a Zap shot photgrapher for all the candids and it was soooo hard to pick pictures for our album from all the proofs. Plus, other people will end up bringing their own cameras and they will all send you the pics after the wedding. Just my thoughts on it.
Also...one another side note. My mother was the one who shot it down as well becasue, she said that the table was going to look so elegant with the flowers and candels, menus and wine bottles, and that she thought the cameras would look cheesy. I never thought that at anyone elses weeding that I had seen cameras on the tables... but.... for mine I agreed with her LOL. Sorry so long!
