Do I have to do a bustle??

I think you can get away with not doing a bustle as long as its comfortable....my dress has a longer train so I would have to.

HTH

BTW.....BEAUTIFUL DRESS!

i don't think you have to have one...your train is not long....

edited to say..have them make one...you don't necessarily use it the day of....

If you don't get a bustle, you have to deal with one of two things:
1) you have to hold up the train with your hand/arm the whole time
OR
2) people will step all over your train, which is annoying and also runs the risk of ripping the back of the dress.

they are actually already making one, so i'll have it there if I need it, but I don't want to use it if I don't have to....

I totally agree with Lauren. I had a long train and the bustle the seamstress put had it dragging on the floor a little bit. 30 seconds into the first fast song the bustle was ripped.
Your dress looks very delicate...I wouldn't risk it at all.

To answer your question...yes...I didn't do it the entire time just when we were taking pictures before the reception. I didn't want the train to get dirty and didn't want to undo it for all the pics.
Plus, your train doesn't look that long where you could hold it...is it? I would think your dress would be riding up then....

I have the same question.. my dress has detailing in the back too... you girls think it can be bustleed as well? I dont want ti to lose the affect, but holding it in my hand is going to be annoying - such a dilemma.

What is a balloon bustle? I did a search on here and can't find any pics.

I would get a very simple bustle (even though your salon has control over that.) If you don't want to bustle it, then don't, but I've been to many weddings where people were constantly stepping on the train.

Definitely think the one of the left is perfect for your dress...it wouldn't ruin the look or details of the dress.

Re: Do I have to do a bustle??

i see what you mean about not wanting to take away from the detail of the dress... but i think you'll enjoy your reception/dancing more if you're not worrying about tripping over your train or people stepping on it.... it really doesnt' take a long train for that to happen.
i was in a wedding, and the BM dress had a train that was a little shorter than yours, and i still found it hard to deal with during the reception- i was holding the dress up the whole night, and a couple people stepped on it.... so i made sure for my wedding, i had a detachable train so i didn't have to worry about it
you also have to remember that you might take your heels off to dance, which will make the dress longer..... to me, its your wedding and you want to be as comfprtable as possible.

Re: Do I have to do a bustle??

Thanks ladies.. I knew I wanted a bustle but didnt know if it could be done nicely.

My sister didnt have a train at all, but the length was to the floor and had organzal overlay.. ppl still manged to rip her dress while dancing. The whole bottom of her dress was ripped by the end of the night.

Edited because I just realized this was my 1000th post!! Happy 1K post to me
